I have to eat pancakes? How the heck am I supposed to find pancakes in Korea?
(I wasn't aware that there was a tradition of pancakes for Mardi Gras...)

I've only been to Mardis Gras twice, unfortunately. Hopefully, I will drag my BFF down to New Orleans for Mardis Gras one year.

BUT...you can celebrate Mardis Gras in New Orleans from anywhere! Grab a few friends and you are on your way! Here's how:

Once you are good and drunk, have some friends throw beads at you. If someone gets in your way, punch them or tackle them; even old ladies. Don't worry, a good 'ol Cajun woman knows how to throw down. If you're a woman, don't wear a shirt. You'll get more beads that way. Once you have the beads, string them around your neck as trophies. The one with the most beads wins. If any dispute should arise, a fight to the death will settle it once and for all.

At the end of the night, make sure you barge in on a random stranger's house and fall asleep on the floor. That way, you'll be disoriented when you wake up. Having a shotgun pointed at your face first thing in the morning is a great way to keep any hangovers at bay.

Want to simulate the French Quarter experience? Have someone throw up on your feet. Then have another person yell, "laissez les bons temps rouler" at you all night as you guzzle even more alcohol to drown out any annoyance. If you can't pronounce, "laissez les bons temps rouler", just have them yell "croissant" at you.

Remember: Mardis Gras is about drinking! If you get alcohol poisoning, you win! Orgies are still not acceptable. We are civilized people; not like the Romans at all.

I was always more intrigued with Rio's Carnival than New Orleans. That being said, I'd heard the best time to go to New Orleans was during the Jazz Festival.

It's been 20+ years since I've been to New Orleans, but in the French Quarter, one doesn't need Mardi Gras to get into an alcoholic stupor.

Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Tuesday, is the last attempt to get rid of certain "luxury" ingredients before the start of Lent. Mardi Gras was the feast before Lent, the carnival (or carne levare - to remove meat), that preceded the time of abstention.

(Oh...make them...it's not hard.)

These emoticons will sum up how the @#$% I am feeling right now, and keep me from going on a tirade.

I need a punching bag.

Punching bags are good, Jaz. I got myself one about 18 months ago and it was one of the best things I ever did for my own personal well-being. :)

As for me.... ;)

 I don't think you were on KW when I had my range of "assatar" avatars (this is one of them from then). Fist & Faith requested it the other day--it's his favorite and because I'm such a nice gal I thought I'd give it to him! ;)
