Twin Worlds? Do share!

The Twin Worlds is the original DnD campaign setting Xar crafted years ago, and the setting his novels are based in. The world building and detail I have heard about so far is beautiful, intricate, and adroitly handled.

The AllFather's blog gives some further detail, but getting to hear the tales directly from him, even if only via messenger, is the best. One day, I hope to be able to do as the caption on his blog states.

Come sit around the fire, and listen…

I only wish it would be updated more frequently. It's been nearly two years since the latest entry. I'm dying to hear of a hard copy edition of Ghostblood, or how progress is going on Carnival.

If he's got time to be writing novels, he's got time to be processing Pantheon turns.

I'm just sayin'.

From what I understand, it's not a time issue when it comes to either Eiran or the Twin Worlds for the AllFather. With Eiran, for now, that is what he does, processes our input and stories. With the Twin Worlds, since the actual campaigns are rarely played anymore, if at all, he feels the characters within himself demanding to be set to paper or computer. It is the creative process demanding an outlet, versus the manipulation of others ideas.

At least, I think that is pretty much how it was explained to me. And again, I have not heard any updates on new Twin World tales in a long time, except he mentioned the idea of how the worlds will come to an end is becoming clearer to him. I left that alone as I hope those details are far in the future.

The tale I heard last night was from the history of the Twin Worlds pantheons already established which I had not yet heard.

Interesting... Malazan is the setting of a campaign that Erikson and Esslemont created and played, and it's beautiful, intricate (Holy crap!), and adroitly handled. But that is a... What did you call it again??

 Hey, if it's not your thing, that's no problem. But I'm gonna bust your chops now and then anyway, eh?

I can't answer that, Fist. I will say I know Av has suggested skipping GotM and going straight on to the next one, whichever one that is. However, I never wanted to do that as I felt the books were published in the order they were for a reason. Sort of like Pern, even though the Pern books jump around chronologically.

But, there are those who prefer reading Pern chronologically, and I recently saw a post where lucimay suggested a chronological reading order to someone else here on the Watch. I read so slowly, and very seldom, anyway. But I might just give that reading order of Malazan a shot next time I decide to tackle it again.

This would be a nail-biting countdown if I thought there was a chance. A better idea might be to have a pool on what day before you reach zero Xar will see the countdown. I think there's a decent chance of that. Heh

I imagine it will probably be the same day I start processing turn 1 results.

And I've already topped 2000 posts. So another 41 won't even be much of a milestone.

Bleh.
