The man who:
Killed his brother
Risked his partner
Tried to get away
Fought alone
Mystery series by SRD aka Reed Stephens. It is a series, but each can be read stand alone. But the series is unfinished - word on the street says SRD will write another after the Last Dark.
Get onto it Iolanthe!

Yeah, looked on Amazon. Says Raymond Chandler-ish. I used to read a lot of Raymond Chandler, and Mickey Spillane. In the reading queue.

That queue must be out the door by now, especially once you've added the 10 Malazan books to it

Hey everyone -- just joined.
Quick intro: read the first six books exactly twenty years ago. This summer I found a book at the library called "The Runes of the Earth," reported to be the "First Book of the Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant." I thought that was strange; I could have sworn the first book of that last series was called "The Wounded Land." Turns out there's a NEW Last Chronicles. Since then I've gone back to read the first six books, and am now in the middle of Runes.
Not sure exactly how much I'll be using this message board, but it looks like you're the only other ones in the entire Internets that appreciates Thomas "Don't Touch Me" Covenant. I'll be honored just to be a part of it.

Be Welcome to the Watch, pkf.
Be Well Come and True.
Make yourself at home on the Watch. We have topics on just about everything. But, if you're in the middle of Runes, stay clear of the Last Chrons forum.
...unless you want to be spoiled.
The mods here do their best to keep Last Chrons spoilers from intruding in to other forums, but some do slip by now and then.

Welcome to the Watch PK.
The Wounded Land etc. were never the last Chrons...they were always the second chrons. Of course the way they ended seemed to preclude any more.
Look around, join in.

Hi PK, welcome.
You've probably already figured it out, but, Book 2 (Fatal Revenant) and 3 (Against All Things Ending) of the Last Chronicles are also already published. The Final Book, Book 4 (The Last Dark) is due to come out near the end of the year (Probably late Oct/Early November)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
Yeah, my memories of book order, titles etc was really fuzzy -- like I said, I read the original two series TWENTY years ago! I can relate to Linden's re-entering the Land in Runes after so many years. Re-reading the first two series was really strange, too; the things I remembered vividly, and the things I completely forgot about. Foamfollower, the Haruchai, the Sunbane, the Ranyhyn, and hurtloam I remembered vividly. Other than the croyel, the Kasreyn stuff was like I was reading it for the first time. I completely forgot about Amok, but Mhoram and the krill were pretty familiar. And I could have sworn that Covenant rode a Ranyhyn at some point! Maybe I just dreamed that.
I'll steer clear of spoilers for now, but I'll wade through some of the discussions as I continue reading. Thanks again everyone!

Welcome new folks.
Unfortunately, even a few profiles here might count as spoilers...

Welcome to the Watch, pkfridley! You are apparently in more than one sense a fellow Landsman...or should I say לאַנדסמאַן?
May you thrive here...and contribute.

Thanks Savor Dam -- but let's just keep the pun in my avatar picture a carefully warded secret.

Greetings, pkfridley. I see you've chosen yourself a name the Watchers can have fun trying to mentally pronounce.
As for Covenant riding a Ranyhyn, that's a very logical thing to remember about the ending of LFB - everyone left riding them, it was just that Covenant... more like dropped out of the whole situation. He's a slippery one, no plan is good enough with someone like that around, I learned that well.

Well, isn't carefully worded good enough?
Frostheart, it's always pleasant to see a Swordmain assisting the Despiser. And I find profiles highly questionable as spoilers, how much of a spoiler is that there is a character who has a name? And you're going to know that it's really a character only when you finally read about that one anyway. It's not like a spoiler about how The Last Dark ends.
Everyone messed up and very, very miserable, then a big unexpected twist happens.
Surprise surprise.
