Oh agreed, and I do monthly self-exams and because of history yearly mammograms since I was 40, with a baseline at 35. But, even if I was found to have the gene marker for breast cancer, I really don't think I would go with a double mastectomy for
prevention. I mean, I would probably do the
least invasive treatment possible if I
did have a malignancy. I can't imagine choosing to do so as a preventative measure.
As far as kidney testing, etc., I'll mention my sister's condition at my next physical, but I'm not going to request testing on my own without discussing it with my physician first. I guess I'm at the total opposite range regarding western medical treatment than my sister...
