Agreed. It really increased the range of motion in my neck that had been reduced by years of sports participation. Loosened up my lower back as well.

Okay, okay, I'll stop turning this into a chiropracty thread...

*snort*

It's main trick, since I sprained it really badly at 12 years old, is how to sprain itself when I'm standing still, simply shifting my massive weight around...

*hoping I'm not jinxing myself*
...although it hasn't done it since I started karate-do, even though I haven't trained for several years now...

I have finals tonight that I'm freaking out about. Next week I have off from school and then on to the summer semester.

I think I'll end the night with a celebratory beer or 10.

Good point, I've had good experiences with chiropractors in the past. I'll check with my insurance and physician, maybe I can get a visit without any out-of-pocket...

Chiropractic is the way to go! What a day chasing 3 little kids all over the place (we're taking care of our ex-foster boys for five days), a kiddie paint bomb that blew up in my office and lightning strikes and massive rains all around, not to mention the deaths of two major pop icons...

I MAY be getting a little ahead of myself... since the #1 thing I have to do is save money and I'm no good at that- but I'm going to start with the big things like the event ticket and the plane ticket and then once I've shelled out for that I'll be more likely to save for everything else. :)

Anyone here gone before? I'd take advice!

I'm very happy today. VERY HAPPY.

I recieved news this morning that my dad has just suffered a heart attack. He's ok, and will leave the hospital soon. The full impact of the news won't hit me till later in the week. So off out to enjoy the warm weather.

*sigh*

Just got off the phone with my sister who is back in the ER for pain possibly associated with her ongoing kidney treatment. My hope is that is another over reaction on her part, but good thoughts requested anyway...

~Good thoughts~ Menolly. Yes, hopefully and over-reaction. Hope she's ok.

Krazy Kat - hope your dad recovers well.

Furls, hope you had a good sleep!

Obviously today I'm feeling hopeful... :)

I'm feeling hopeful, too. :) Best wishes to all with ailing family members...

It's been a quiet Sunday, capping off a quiet weekend. The weather hasn't even been hideous (as in the typical DC summer forecast, "hazyhotandhumid") -- I've actually had the a/c off and the windows open all weekend.

And we've got a four-day week on tap, followed by a three-day weekend. Life is good. 8)

Thanks Stevie and ali, and anyone else who sent good vibes.
Yeah, apparently an over reaction yet again.
Sent home on percocet and valium; under orders to not drive.

...have I mentioned how glad I am she's in Pittburgh and I'm in Gator Town???

And now that my half century mark is six months away (our mom died on her 50th birthday) she wants me to follow in her footsteps medically, and get all this gene testing for a breast cancer marker, or possible kidney failure, or...or...or...

She's even telling me to totally avoid soy products, like tofu...

*sorry*

...and y'all thought I was bad.

I wish good things, good things for everyone!

I just did the math (well, Wolfram Alpha did) and I missed my binary birthday... about seven years ago. My next one will be in 2024. Sigh...

Unless you count years, instead of days. Then it'll be in 2011.

I'm feeling more and more like it's time to move somewhere else... so I've been looking around a bit to see if there are interesting job offers for postdoctoral scientists, primarily in the U.S. and/or Canada...

Glad to hear that it was better than was feared, Menolly! (Sorry for being late on this one. I took the weekend off.)

Rational moderation is almost always a good thing, but hey, better safe than sorry. You hate to see people go "early" if it can be helped. Now that I have hit my later 40's it is strange to experience the loss of more and more people that I know. Take care, all...

Oh agreed, and I do monthly self-exams and because of history yearly mammograms since I was 40, with a baseline at 35. But, even if I was found to have the gene marker for breast cancer, I really don't think I would go with a double mastectomy for prevention. I mean, I would probably do the least invasive treatment possible if I did have a malignancy. I can't imagine choosing to do so as a preventative measure.

As far as kidney testing, etc., I'll mention my sister's condition at my next physical, but I'm not going to request testing on my own without discussing it with my physician first. I guess I'm at the total opposite range regarding western medical treatment than my sister...

Saw some of the traffic with your sister on your Facebook page, Menolly. What about if you responded to her with this:
