Wow! Can't believe I have the last post here, from 2.5 months ago! Heh

Had a good day at the used store. Got replacement copies of Jack the Bodiless and Neverness. I mailed Neverness out to Loremaster years ago, so it's been a while. One of my favorite books of all.

Also got Moorcock's Eternal Champion collection, Tanith Lee's Tales from the Flat Earth: The Lords of Darkness collection, and the first Robotech novel. I've never really tried Moorcock; never read a word of Lee; and didn't know Robotech was in book-form, plus never saw any of the cartoon at all. But hey, the whole haul was only $3, so what do I care? I just donate the ones I don't like back to the store.

And it's all pointless, because I have a Malazan book to read, plus at least several 40K books. When I'll ever get to these, among others I've gotten there lately, is beyond me.

And, as always, pm me if there's any old books you want me to look for. It's a really nice used bookstore. Has all genres, not just fantasy/scifi.

My son asked me again which book I wanted for Christmas, so I gave him two choices, Daughter of Regals and Reave the Just. Minutes later he came back with Reave the Just in his hand! Guess what I shall be reading tonight? (The Making of Europe 950 to 1350 abandoned again!!)

Nice one Iolanthe. Although I'm not a big fan of all the stories, it does have my favourite SRD story of all time in it, The Killing Stroke. (There's a thread in the Gen SRD forum when you're done. ) (Funnily enough, I got my copy of Reave The Just in the UK.)

My local $5 bookshop had a sale, all books $3. So a hardcover of Mieville's Embassytown and Bradbury's Now and Forever came home with me, plus a bunch of others but they weren't SF or Fantasy.

Oh and Flowers for Algernon was a Christmas present, as was a Where's Wally jigsaw puzzle but that's neither a book nor SF/Fantasy. It has been sending me batty (er) though.

I'm glad to see that you like jigsaws, Shaun. I'm currently on my 2nd this Christmas, only the sky to do, and I may give in as it's all the same blue! I always do a couple of jigsaws at Christmas - no time the rest of the year. These were "new" ones that someone gave me.

Yeah I like jigsaw puzzles even if my back doesn't. I sometimes frame them if they're arty, so the friend who gave me this one said he got it not just because it would send me batty but because he knew I wouldn't spend money framing it!

There's an Australian film called 'Unfinished Sky'. It has a jigsaw in it but it's not really about jigsaws. But yeah the sky sucks, especially if there's no variation in the blue. I'm very impressed you've nearly knocked over two puzzles already. Well done!

My favorite short story, ever. Especially since I have it (somewhere) in the original issue of TMoF&SF it was published in. I'm not wild about the novel or film versions, though.

Well there you go, I didn't even know there was a film version.
That's a pretty cool thing to have the original short story, gotta be over half a decade old.

P.s. wiki tells me there's also a musical and album.

My Daddy was a charter subscriber to TMoF&SF and kept the subscription going and all his copies until his death in 1987. I should have never let the subscription lapse...

Some of those issues also have the original publication of King's serialized The Gunslinger.

Finished Daughter of Regals - not impressed by some of the short stories - Animal Lover, the Unicorn one and the one with the centipede - skimmed to get to the end quicker. Enjoyed the others though. Also read Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett (in one day!). I really am enjoying his books, but must read my latest acquisition (history) before I download anything else!

I have acquired around 40 books in the last few weeks, mostly sci-fi.

I can't list them all here, but includes all of OSC's Shadow series, Kevin Anderson's Saga of Seven Suns, all the David Gemmel books that were missing from my collection, and a bunch of others.
