So there it is. Hair removal complete.
It's shorter than I asked for , but never mind (though at first, when I'd just washed it, I
looked like a villainous overlord of some sort).
Not that it'll be of any significance to anyone, but as I walked to the hairdresser I had
'Overtaken' from One Piece playing in my head. It's the music that plays when the main characters are walking into danger, often to confront some nefarious enemy.

I like it! What did you do with the hair?

My friend who got his mighty mane chopped the other day sent it to that (and got sponsored for the cut). They have kind of a bad rep though. Word has it that they use only a tiny proportion of the hair they're sent for the purposes they publicise - they sell the rest.
That's beside the point. It went on the floor.

No-one would ever suspect you of such a thing.

Don't worry. He knows I mean it in an affectionate way. We have met and abused each other in person. It's all good.

Hey, you should be careful about saying things like that. You'll give yourself a good reputation.

While I admittedly am a Yank, and therefore have no business nosing into this, I am channeling the busybody spirit made famous by another American KW member and so will try to explain my understanding of "pommy git." I may fall on my face, but nobody will know unless someone more knowledgeable steps up to explain...
Pommy is an Aussie insult (or term of mocking endearment?) for those from the UK home islands. It is derived from POM, which is the acronyn (for Prisoner of Her Majesty) on the clothes of convicts exiled to Australia back when it was a penal colony.
Git is also a mild insult, meaning an offspring who is not quite legitimate. The implication is not so strong as bastard or the like.
Taken together and in the context of the thread, "pommy git" can be read by we Yanks as meaning something along the lines of "English brat"
Now that I've made a dog's breakfast of this, someone who really knows the phrase can come along and set us all straight...

I'm impressed.

Never heard where "pommy" actually came from (although it sounds right) and, I'd go with the word "stupid" for the git bit but I think it's probably more true to say the definition is "illegitimate".
At least I didn't call him a:
smeg head
...and no, peoples...don't look it up! For those who have seen Red Dwarf they'll know it's an insult thrown around by Lister at Rimmer. I had the unfortunate experience of some KWer asking me once what it really meant. I did not know. I looked it up. My whole world changed for ever! Seriously, DON'T look it up!

Oooooh, I already know what that means without having to look it up. *shudders*

Actually, that's incorrect (the 'Pommy' part anyway). The origin of the term isn't definitely established - there are a number of theories - but that particular etymology is false. For one thing, 'Pommy' isn't just an Australian term - it's very common here in South Africa too, and probably other ex-colonies as well.
Wiki link
One of the local terms for those of Pommy descent is 'souty', short for 'soutpiel', which has quite an.. interesting etymology.

Ah well, it was an interesting theory. Something about the 'Her Majesty' part didn't sound quite right anyway. After all, that'd be POHM or PHM. Believe me, they wouldn't miss the H.
In any case, I enjoyed reading it - even if it was wrong.

Or from the Urban Dictionary:
pom
Either comes from 'prisoner of mother England' or pomigranite - a reddish coloured fruit that native Australians (Aboriginals) thought had a similar colour to the skin of sunburnt Brits.
Not meant to be an insult (as some English think for some reason), merely a nickname for our less-tanned former rulers. Nicknaming everything is very Australian.
It is a somewhat dubious source, but that hasn't stopped others.

Make sure you use real Scottish whisky in those - it isn't the same otherwise.
