There's a BIG difference between drooling over a pommy git and a Scottish Git

git means bastard son of a bastard - and though nowadays seems to be a less offensive insult, among some people (ie my mum's generation) its use can still earn you a slap on the ear!
CovJr - good luck without the locks! It's been 15 years, 5 months, and 5 days since I lost mine. You now have a catch-all thing to blame for when things go wrong. ('She wouldn't have said/done that if I still had long hair' etc etc)

...and no, peoples...don't look it up! For those who have seen Red Dwarf they'll know it's an insult thrown around by Lister at Rimmer. I had the unfortunate experience of some KWer asking me once what it really meant. I did not know. I looked it up. My whole world changed for ever! Seriously, DON'T look it up!
I saw an interview of the RD cast and writers where someone asked what "smeg" meant, and they admitted that it didn't mean anything.
I was all set with that explanation until you said this, so I googled it...
...and found nothing.
The only definitions on the web confirm that it's use originated in Red Dwarf, and that it doesn't mean anything.
So, I'm wondering what
your definition is, and where you got it from?

I SO don't wanna go there (here...

)
It derives from the word "smegma" (an abbreviation of). So..um...look up that because I really don't think I'm going to put the definition of that.
Perhaps it's true that it wasn't intended as a reference to smegma (such has been said)...but it's highly coincidental. And it's been around for a while: after all, Monty Python did a skit called "Mrs Smegma", and as far as I know "smeg" was slang used in britain from the 70's.
<shrug> If you look up the word "smegma" you'll realize that it works well with the word "head".
Here endith the wisdom of Sea.

Smegma is an American experimental noise group formed in Pasadena, California in 1973 and currently based in Portland, Oregon. Originally part of the Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) movement of the 1970s, Smegma is one of the few music collectives of that era still active today.
OK, it's not the definition I think you're referencing, but I still think it's funny

hahahaha...um no. That's not the definition I'm referencing!
On a more serious note: all those who are into sending good vibes, send some the way of Mr Seareach.
We're pretty sure he has swine flu. He's at the moment really unwell (not on death's doorstep but he is very ill. Had it for 4 days and not getting any better). Here in Oz, at least in our state, they're not really testing for it anymore and it's self-imposed quarantine...not that he could go anywhere even if he wanted to.
So yep. There you have it.

You don't think it could be just flu?
If it is swine flu, he's lucky. It seems to be less dangerous than normal flu.

Good vibes headed for Mr. Seareach! Here's hoping it's not flu of the swine persuasion....
CovJr, I like the new look.
I spent the weekend in Roanoke, packing up Batty and Shara_Lunison for their move across the fruited plain to Colorado. There was some concern Friday that all their stuff wouldn't fit in the ReloCube, but it did, thanks to Mom's mad packing skills.

With any luck, they have left Roanoke for good by now.
Well, not *totally* for good. Shara_Lunison will have to go back for six weeks next summer to finish her masters degree coursework. And then there will be the Big Graduation Ceremony in 2011, in which Shara_Lunison will get her masters *and* Magickmaker will get her BA. Of course, that's assuming everybody finishes coursework/projects/etc. on time and the money holds out and whatnot.
Anyway...today, I'm back at work, but exhausted....

I feel better than I have in a few years. I started a new therapy for my hands that lets me use the computer again and my RA seems to be going into remission again. It's so great to be back in KW again! WooHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a job last week, and on the way home from the interview my car's head gasket blew. It's comforting to know life can be so consistent.......

Safetyjedi -- good news, and good to see you back!
dAN -- at least now you'll have the money to pay for the car repair.

Seriously, congrats!

Huggles Tommy!! I was just thinking about you a couple of weeks ago, and wondered how you were doing! I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better!
dAN, happy to hear about the job, in these times they are so hard to come by.

I've been painting. A lot. It feels good. Been swamped in homework and writing papers this semester, but thankfully it's almost over. I've also been keeping busy by doing various low budget home decor craft projects. Whee.
I feel like a broken James Brown record.
