I certainly hope so. I never read anything not written by The Dark Lord. I just assumed this 'Lynne Cantwell' was a pseudonym. Also, it was good to read something of his that wasn't written in the sky.

I think ali's The Maidens' War, her first novel, is a stand alone.

Others include Cornwell's Warlord Chrons, (his take on the Arthurian legend), the Helliconia book I was missing, Rawn's Dragon Star books, a couple of Chung Kuo books, and the Gormenghast trilogy. And I ordered Forge of Darkness.

And actually, which Chung Kuo books did you read? I'm only 4 or 5 in, I stopped, probably, at least 6 months back if not a year back. It is a very odd series for me.

I think ali's The Maidens' War, her first novel, is a stand alone.

Let me know if not. I read it, I really liked it. I don't see how there would be a sequel, but I'd probably read it if there was one.

I already had the original book 1 & 2, which I enjoyed. Dense and complicated, but overall good.

Then I saw Book 2 of a prequel, which I got. Now I've added book 1 of the prequel, as well as book 3 of the original series.

But for some reason he renumbered the series starting with the prequel, so the original first book is now book 3. This means my series is so far numbered 1, 2, 1, 2, 3. But really it's 1-5 apparently.

So, I happened to go to a different shop than usual the other day, and what should I walk past in the window of a bookshop in the centre, but A Memory of Light in paperback.

So now I have the last WoT book. A series I started reading in 1995.

Can't wait to get started on it. Will probably have to re-read at least the book immediately preceding it first though.

And I still have 3 and a half books of the Saga of Seven Suns to finish first.

I've been out of control with my book buying lately. Luckily, the most I spend on a book is $5 new from $5 book store, and the rest come from op shops for less. One of these opshops, a great little bookstore, had a 'green dot orange dot' sale yesterday. Anything green $1, anything orange half price. Got a heap of really good 'literary' fiction for a buck. Unfortunately my science fiction and fantasy acquisitions - This Day All Goods Die and American Gods - were a ripoff at $3 and $4 respectively

Other recent acquisitions that fit this thread include Juli Zeh's The Method, C.J Cherryh's Fortress In The Eye Of Time, Samuel R. Delany's Dhalgren and Tales of Neveryon, Mordant's Need for a nostalgic re-read, Blade Runner, The War of the Worlds, The Judging Eye, by R. Scott Bakker, Peace and War, Joe Haldeman and... I'm gonna pretend that's all even those there's more because otherwise I look like someone with a problem, and I already have enough of those.

Went on a small buying binge today. There's a great second-hand bookshop in the center of town which has an unbelievable fantasy/sci-fi section (which is why I can't go in there too often ).

I bought The Illuminatus! Trilogy for the KW Book Club.

I also got a couple of books recommended by other Watchers (one of the many benefits of the Watch ):

• - Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlein (rcmd. by Av).
  
  - Leviathan Wakes by James Corey (rcmd. by Ms. Mary).

I also got Game of Thrones. I think I tried to read it before but I'll persist this time. (I might try to get a look at the T.V. series first so that I'm not too critcal of it )
