Was browsing a 2nd hand book store the other day and picked up this: Perdido Street Station by China Mieville. Thought I should give it a go. :D

Recently finished The Pagan Night by Tim Akers. Good well-written fantasy first installment with hints of Erikson and GRRM. Quite interesting magic/gods set-up. Not sure whether I'll read the next one or not, but the I never am these days!

I have had that recommended to me so many times. One of these days I will have to actually read it.

I'm pretty sure muffin and fist have recommended it.

Murrin? Yeah, probably. It was good. Pretty dark, but good.

I didn't recommend it. I didn't get too far.

And yeah, "muffin" is the best typo in a long time.

Anyway ...
I'm starting a reread of The Pipe Woman Chronicles; Land, Sea, Sky; and Pipe Woman's Legacy, before reading Spider's Lifeline. I know there are additional add ons besides the novels; I remember reading blog posts about ali being told she was going to be the "chronicler," as well as stories posted elsewhere, IIRC. However, I don't have links to those posts anymore, and I would like to include them in my reread.

ali, do you have a timeline posted somewhere which includes links to the add ons in the series, and would list where said add ons would fit in the series?

And when is each one read in the reread?
(thank you, BTW)

Just started Ancillary Justice, by Ann Leckie.

I'm intrigued.
(also pleased I know what a "Sword" and a "Mercy" are in this context... well, to the extent you can know what a "Justice," a "Sword" or a "Mercy" are ...well, to the extent you can know what those are after just reading the first 10 pages.)

That was as clear as mud Linna. :D

I should look out for these I suppose.

Halfway through Golden Son. So far it's good, although not as good as the reviews I read hyped me up for. Hopefully the second half is killer.

Reading has been slowed down of late, even by my standards, by all of the poopy diapers.

I hope after reading this to start my long awaited re-read of The Gap Cycle.

oh - woo! love getting a reaction like that.
(but I wasn't actually trying for it.)

It's a ship. A starship. A "Justice" is a troop carrier. And I've guessed vaguely what a "Sword" is and what a "Mercy" is.
Except it's a ship unlike any I'd generally imagine...

I had heard the titles when people were talking about the series on a thread awhile back. (they stuck in my head.)
