I use slickdeals.net . You put in an alert on something you are interested in and they send you an alert for the item when it goes on sale.

Also if you don't care about frills like knee room, water, etc you can always go to Spirit Airlines, which is like the Greyhound of airlines. They have an alert thing you can sign up for. Their tickets are really cheap but oh boy.......yuck.

I have had a bad cough thingie. I actually did get it last week and it seemed mild and went away, making me feel like Super Immune System Girl! But, a few days later, it did re-emerge with a wrath. It got so bad that my husband had to prepare dinner one night. Of course, this meant he bought take out... He did brag so much about how good cooking he was when we first met, too.

I have had a headache for over a week now. not sure if it is my teeth or a sinus infection. but I go to the doctor on Wednesday to find out.

paid for my two sets of glasses. (buy one, get one free) - I am near sighted but can no longer read with my glasses on. so I had a choice between bifocals or a set of reading glasses. I went for the latter.

I could not live without my bifocals. I have the no line and love them. The problem with reading glasses is you have to look above them when you are not reading. My eyes have gotten really bad. I buy some reading ones at the drugstore sometimes and get 3.00 and that is about the highest they go. I would get laser surgery but they don't offer it for reading.


I'm off to Snowfarm tomorrow. I really love that place. And it is fall and the leaves are changing. I'm really excited to be getting away. Having my father here for a week really took a toll on me. I am going to try to do some writing on my project while I am there in the evenings. Ali, I wish you could have come with me. There are so many classes on textiles I think you would love. I will have internet access there so I will post some pics of works in progress.

I am taking the ferry across Long Island sound to Bridgeport then driving up from there. It doesn't save any time but at least you are avoiding going through the worst traffic areas of NYC.

I can only imagine being on the back dock in my bifocals and stepping off the edge. a good six foot fall. no thanks.

I've had bifocals for years. Tried the no-line kind and didn't like 'em -- the transitional area made me crazy -- so I have the old-fashioned kind with the line. And I also have reading glasses that I wear for close work, the computer, and -- oh yeah! -- reading for long stretches. I got prescription reading glasses from Zenni Optical not long ago. Their cheapest frames are about $7, including the single-vision lenses (which reading glasses count as). It's a great deal and the glasses work just fine.

Had a good day today. Magickmaker and I went with a friend to the Shenandoah Fiber Festival. I didn't *quite* blow the budget on yarn, but I did get some nice stuff that will be fun to knit up. After we got back, we had some drama-lama-ding-dong. That part was less fun. But I'm confident it will blow over.

Well I am here. It's beautiful and very very quiet. The leaves are changing, and the colors are striking. Tomorrow is the first day of class. I am in the main area and everyone has gone to sleep. I'm all alone.

So many new posts I think my notification thingy stopped working!!

I have bi focals - two pairs, one for long distance and reading, one for computer & microfiche reader screen/piano book stand distance and reading. Tried varifocals (that's what we call the ones without the line) but they made me feel quite dizzy. I wear them most of the time except around the house. I'm due for another eye test now so hoping my eyes haven't got worse. I get the eye test free being over 60 but have to pay for glasses.

I bought a breadmaker. Had some bread that my brother in law made in his last weekend and didn't get any bad reactions. My first loaf was not too bad and I had cheese on toast last night, something I have really missed not being able to have. No reaction.

Still smoking the electric cigs. Now down to 6 strength nicotine, and two flavours, strawberry and black cherry. Noticed that I'm spending quite a lot of time inhaling so cutting down to 10 sucks/vapes (whatever) per session. When I went to buy my last liquid a bloke was being served and he asked for 6 Peanut Butter flavoured bottles, 24 strength!! Good Heavens!!

It's probably going to come to the point where I need glasses soon. I can read without problems and can read quite small print still, it's just in low light that I find I'm starting to struggle a little.

Distance has been fine and my distance vision is better than my wife's and I can pass the drivers license eye test. I think I might be on the borderline of that though.

Peanut butter vapor sounds ghastly.

I should wear glasses, but I generally don't because I can't safely wear them at work and that's the main place they'd be beneficial. I'm used to being a bit near-sighted, though I can tell it's gradually getting worse. I do wonder if I would have less headaches if I wore them. (Astigmatism.)

Sorus, YES. You would most certainly have fewer headaches if you wore glasses to correct for your astigmatism. Why are they iffy at work? I thought you worked retail.

Woke up yesterday so tired that I almost couldn't get out of bed. Got up, called in sick to work, took the car in for service (and did my best not to fall asleep in their waiting room...), stopped at the grocery store for milk, came home and went back to bed for several hours. Wondering whether I shorted myself on caffeine over the weekend (although that usually results in a migraine), or whether I was coming down with something. Anyway, it seems to be better today.

I have astigmatism and myopia and contacts. But my contacts are rigid gas permeable type.

I've heard that the rigid ones work better than the soft lenses. But the break-in phase takes much longer, right?

And I keep meaning to say that Snowfarm looks beautiful, lorin, and I hope you have a terrific time.

The break in takes a little longer. I like them because I get better acuity of vision than I would with soft lenses.

My son has the astigmatism/myopia problem, but he got soft contacts. He mostly uses them to wear for playing basketball, as he had a big problem with getting his eyeglass frames bent all the time if he got hit by a ball or another player. So soft lenses makes sense for him for playing sports (you don't want to get hit in the face with a rigid lens!). He tried prescription sports goggles, but they never really worked that well for him, probably due to the strength of his prescription.
