I thought I told all you Watchers to stop getting sick. Honestly, nobody listens to me around here.

Not to diminish what Furls is going through, because it's *way* worse -- but we've been having our own little healthcare drama. Magickmaker is having trouble with (a) kidney stone(s). She's had two attacks over the past couple of weeks. The first attack sent her to the ER in an ambulance (which was just a titch nerve-wracking for Yrs Trly, who was three hours away...). The second occured Sunday -- we are unclear whether it's the same beastie or another one. Anyhow, she's going to see a specialist Thursday. Of course, this had to happen just as classes are starting...

Really? When do yours start? Today's their first day. First semester ends mid-December.

Batty's new school is on the quarter system, which will be a different experience for her. Her fall quarter starts the 14th, with finals ending right before Thanksgiving (for non-US folks, our Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in November). Then she's off through New Year's. But she only gets a week or so off between winter and spring quarters, so things even out.

I woke up feeling pretty good about today and now I feel amazing. I am hanging out with Lucimay and surfing the net while she practices on her guitar and sings. Life has so many precious beautiful moments that make me realize how lucky I am.

me - tore my rotator cuff and had surgery today. don't feel anything yet, they gave me a 24 hour block. my doctor was trying to be funny and said to remember, when feeling comes back suicide is not an option. something to look forward to.

On a very minor note, I'm recovering from an urge to sell my child after he drove me to the point of rage this morning. After a few very deep breaths, I'm feeling better.

wellllll if your kid is around 29 it definitely gets better other than that, my friend, my only advice is heavy sedation, for you, not your child.

Lorin, I do hope that shoulder doesn't trouble you too much when the block wears off. Prepare for lots of PT. I have been working on regaining range-of-motion in a frozen shoulder for months. Every time I slack off on the PT, I lose motion and the discomfort starts to ratchet back up.

Stevie, I don't know how old your child is, but as the father of a 16 year old, I certainly sympathize.

All, maybe we should establish "The Watcher Exchange of the Vexing Offspring" -- is there a book and movie deal in this concept?

Speaking of messed up shoulders I've been in Tam's old neck brace for 3 days and probably need to have it on another 3, at least. Apparently I pinched my brachial patella nerve, which is right about where the neck meets the shoulder, or clavicle. Anyway it's a pain in the............neck (well I was going to say something else ), but it's amazing how much trouble it can cause: my right arm, muscles and glands up to my right ear, right side of the throat, my pecs and even a muscle in my back have been affected. It's a pain and I have to take it easy (not easy to do with having to rebuild my comp from browser infection, a faulty internet connection and factory restore over the last 5 days). So it's nothing compared to what other people are going through here (especially Furls and Lorin), I just thought the image of me in a neck brace tying to type might amuse you-health and healing...

Savor, my boy is 6, which is generally a very good age, but not this morning... and WEVO could have potential! I can only imagine with dread a 16 year old!

StevieG, yeah, 6 is usually okay. It gets more, um, interesting when the hormones start to kick in, which for girls can be as early as 7. (I had two girls. Eleven was *murder*. Almost literally. ) Girls get to be almost human around 15 or 16; I hear that's when boys get more interesting. So yeah, you've got awhile yet, sorry.

I think it was Ben Franklin who recommended that the best way to raise a teenage son was to put him in a barrel with the bung hole open; check on him at 21, and if the result isn't to your liking, close up the bung hole.

Actually, he didn't specify a gender...recommended it for all children. (I think the check was at 16 though...can't remember. )
