WFC is World Fantasy Convention, sorry. It's in DC this year, ten minutes from my house.

So I was wrong about the day for SRD's reading. Actually, it's today. Like, an hour before mine. So I'll try not to have my camera phone shake all through it.... Dunno if I'll get all of it recorded, but I'll see what I can do.

So, name dropping: Last night I went to a friend's party at WFC. I got into a conversation with Romeo, Lisa, and two people I didn't know. The guy seemed nice enough, and was clearly another author, based on what he was saying. As he was leaving, I introduced myself, and he told me his name was Mike. After he left, I looked at Romeo and said, "Mike who?"

"Stackpole," Romeo says. I felt like somewhat of an idiot...

Lee Modesitt was also at this party. So was Carol Berg.

Saw SRD and Bob Vardeman at the mass autographing session last night, and chatted with them both.

Now I'm going to go back to being nervous about my reading....

Yeah, the interview is pretty awkward. I remember feeling both interested and disgusted the first time I read it. I am always interested in deviant psychology and pathology type stuff, but... eek... that poor person has some issues.

Yes, we have two cats. They are indoor cats and both super sweet, though not with each other. They're both female and two females don't usually get along indoors as they are territorial. They keep a peace most of the time, though, but are never cute with each other like they are with us. One of them, I got from a shelter. The other, I got accidentally after finding her in a car place thingie. She was a hungry, small kitten with an ear injury and full of fleas. I took her in, fed her and intended to find a home for her because one cat was enough, but she made herself very much at home and we became attached.

When that cat first went into her breeding time before we got her spayed, she was crazy with my husband. She wanted nothing to do with me, but she climbed all over him, hanging on his shoulder, nuzzling his ear, biting the lobe and moaning into his ear... She really was interested in my husband!

And, speaking of videos, what ever happened to the video of the fest from this summer? Was it put up and I did missed it?

Re the video from E'fest, yeah. Maybe if we *all* pester Jenn...

SRD's reading was terrific. I didn't record it, but Batty did. She's not sure how her audio turned out, but she promises to post whatever she got.

My reading seemed to go okay. I didn't pack the room like SRD did, but the folks who were there seemed to enjoy it -- even the ones I wasn't related to. Which may or may not include Romeo; turns out he can trace his ancestors to the Butlers of County Kilkenny, which means he and I are probably related somehow.

Where did Jenn vanish to? I thought she was settled in and back here.

Do you have a video of your reading? I would be more interested in that than srd. Also, if I started one of your books, which would you suggest?

Not ali, but I recommend starting with The Pipe Woman Chronicles Omnibus, unless ali suggests starting with the Fourth-Wall Friday shorts she shared along with the series:

ali's been featured on Fourth-Wall Friday two more times that I know of, but those have to do with the next series in the Pipe Woman universe, The Land, Sea, Sky trilogy. I do recommend you read Where Were You When between the two series though.

ali has mentioned that there is another related short in an anthology, but I haven't yet tracked that one down.

We could, actually. I'm pretty sure both Jaz and Deer have videos of their guitar playing on YouTube. And Drew has a band -- I've seen some of his videos on G+ and they're pretty good.

Okay, thanks (and to Menolly). I am out of ideas for reading soon. I have two friends who do read fantasy/scifi and the author they suggested next I am dubious over. The las thing one of them suggested was the Dresden Files series. It is entertaining, but not really well written. And now, after reading shades of grey, my head feels like it is bruised and abused.

There are two more shades of grey books and my friend who was so excited that I read them finally keeps asking if I have read them all yet. I finished the first one after many pauses from it. Finally ended up skimming the bdsm scenes (which made it go a lot faster). Without those scenes, there was not really much book there.

Who did they suggest next?
