That's so awful. It's been making me think about my daughter's horse riding lessons, especially as she's starting to learn to canter, so at some point galloping will follow.

Thanks guys. That's life I guess.

*shrug* She was an accomplished rider and worked for a stable/track/something. It was sadly just a case of the wrong place and the wrong time.

Some good news: MagickMaker has definitely got a new job! She'll be working for the Architect of the US Capitol, starting on the 23rd. From what I can gather, what she'll be doing is visitor information/customer service. It's only a 6-month position, but they told her in the interview that it's basically a 6-month job interview and if they like her, they'll find something else for her. Here's hoping they weren't just blowing smoke...

Received a box of goodies from the Worldbuilders campaign today - a board game and a graphic novel. Will hopefully be trying the former out next time I'm at my gaming group.

Congrats to MagicMaker on her job.

For myself, wish I could stop feeling blah with no energy. It's been almost two weeks now. Was fighting off a cold a week and a half ago, maybe this is the tail end? (I hope!)

MsMary- I always forget how much I hate being sick when I'm well. :(

Avatar- Are you guys likely to see the young woman's family?
(I have no idea if they live near you guys, or like on a different continent.)

what can I help with?
I was thinking you could help us summon lucimay.
My idea was you could write some poems that none of us found easy to understand.
Then we could all be like "arrrgh, sarge?! We don't like them!" and that might summon lucimay for translation.

But lucimay was successfully summoned nonetheless!
(Btw, do I get to ask if someone pm'd her that we were talking about her?)

Yes, for all intents and purposes, you just did ask. No idea what the correct answer to the question is.
;)

I tipped her off in WoW, but I believe there was a PM involved as well, and not from me.

Though if she doesn't come back soon I will yell at her in WoW again.

I'm on one continent, her mother (an old friend of my mothers) lives on a different one, and she was on yet a third, so not for some time I would say. (We meet up now and then, she still has family here.)

Oh, and it was I who PM'd LuciMay.

Av- that kind of day at work?
MsMary wrote:Ha, yeah, I'm a bad patient. :P
I think physical weakness takes us all down a few notches.
It seems like the day is gonna be pointless, like we're gonna get nothing done and like people who expect stuff from us are gonna be disappointed.

Sorus- right, WoW. That thing. :) I've never played it... I would probably get mildly addicted if I played it long enough to be vaguely competent.

Edit: fixed quote I did.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Yeah, it's time-consuming. It's also a cheap and harmless form of stress relief, and I've met quite a few friends there.

My problem is I would get seriously addicted to it.

I've told this story before: I watched MagickMaker play WoW while she was home from college one summer. Here's how it went:

Me: You're running.
Her: Yeah.
A few minutes later:
Me: You're running again.
Her: Yeah. I'm not at a high enough level yet to have a mount.
A few minutes later:
Me: You're still running.
Her: Yeah, I do a lot of that.
Me: No kidding.

And then she stopped and killed some bad guys. And she parked her character while we had dinner, and then went back to...running. And I was like, "Tell me again why you pay money to play this game."

Now she's moved on to something called Ingress, which she says is a cross between Foursquare and Capture the Flag. At least she's getting out and meeting people....
