Welcome to Kevinswatch, Adhimoksha.

Your tag reminded me of Amarok, so I picked one up the other day.
I haven't heard this (one hour long) single for a while and it made me laugh!

Odd. While I see a recent new member with that name, I see no posts yet from this Watcher.

Either Adhimoksha posted and subsequently deleted a post, or Luke is really observant of new Watcher registrations.

Me, too.

However, my own observation seems to point in the direction of welcoming newbies before they post seems to scare them off...

Not that I'm discouraging you from doing so, Luke. I think doing so unprompted is awesome. I'm just stating an observation.

Hi, my name is Alan. I first encountered Thomas Covenant 36 years ago when I saw someone reading The Illearth War and found the cover interesting (the UK cover where there greenery, a circle in the middle with a Lord standing on the edge of a forest). I knew nothing about the series, and later that year found the book with all three of the First Chronicles together in my local library.

I devoured that book and loved it from the outset. I then went on to read the Second Chronicles and buy all the books for myself, which I still have to this day. I have reread them a few times and after about 20 years am about to go down that rabbit hole again. I have never read the Last Chronicles, but will do in this reading.

Always preferred the First Chronicle to the second, but love the characters and The Land, always nice to re-enter.

Come from Wales but have relocated to Canada and been here for 10 years.

Welcome Alan

😏 Amatulya 🖖 Great to have you here at the Watch  I look forward to reading your posts, your thoughts and your insights into TCTC.

I am totally with you, my favourite of the series is the first chronicles. That was the book that introduces you to the Land for the first time and all its magic and beauty, all the amazing people and characters that cohabit peaceably there. I love the respectful way they interact with one another. Definitely won my heart ♥️ I cant imagine anyone not falling in love with Donaldsons creation.

Anyway see you around the forum .. post wildly friend and fellow Watcher.

Welcome to the Watch, Colocally. May you thrive here and contribute.

Av is right about Watchers being a mostly harmless lot. Some are pretty opinionated (on both SRD's works and on other topics), but my experience is that even the most opinionated tend to be pretty interesting people in person...and one can always disregard posts from (or avoid forums frequented by) those whose opinions are not to your taste.
