New to the forum but not new to forums. I particularly loved Lord Foul's Bane which ranks amongst my favourite but Gilden Fire is a close second. Such a sad tale in the telling!

Welcome, Foehammer. You must be a Tolkien Fan as well as a Donaldson fan, as many are. If you have any opinions on how they relate to each other, we have lots of threads about that ... or start your own. Also, if you haven't finished all 10 Chronicles books, you may wish to watch out for spoilers.

Welcome, Foehammer! I am quite fond of Gilden-Fire myself! We have two threads that I know of dedicated to that subject, found on two different forums. Greetings, all.
I first read the first and second chronicles back in the mid-80s, and hadn't opened them up since then. I actually loaned the second trilogy to a friend who just a year ago returned them to me, so I got interested in them again.
I re-read LFB for the first time last month and I just finished TIW again last night. I'm picking up soooo much more this time around than I did in my middle school/junior high years. I'm actually hesitant to browse the forum too much because I really don't remember what happens - it's like reading them again for the first time, though parts come back to me as if they were a distant dream when I read them. It's a neat experience. What a challenging fantasy series.
I've never read the final chronicles. Assuming I make it through the originals first, I figure I'll be heading down that road eventually, too.
Anyway, glad to see there are other fans out there

I did, but only on a forum for fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (off-topic, of course). But I've read several other people describe their experience of coming back to TC after having the books in their early teens. You didn't post your recent foray into the Chronicles on the web, by any chance, did you? I came across a footnote on someone's page that said about the exact same thing you said in your intro. Can't find it now. No biggie, probably serendipity, but one must satisfy one's curiosity.

Welcome aboard Emayl. Suggest avoiding all the Chrons forums if you're worried about spoilers, and to be honest, you still might hit a few here or there in other forums, since they're occasionally mentioned in context with other things that remind us of them etc.
But there are plenty other sub-forums here for all sorts of interests as well, so you can always join in there while you finish off the Chrons.

I love the Chronicles although I'm an even bigger fan of the SRD works Mordant's Need and the Gap. As Avatar advises, it's good to avoid forums where SRD books you haven't finished are being discussed, because you will encounter spoilers. But, once you've finished, I hope you'll feel encouraged to visit those forums to find out what other SRD fans think. To me, the Group Readings part of the Watch is the crown jewel of the board.
The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant has gotten a mixed reaction from Watch members here, but I liked it and even prefer it over the Second Chronicles. The forum General SRD Discussion and Other Works has threads dedicated to talking about the SRD mystery novels, short stories, and novellas. And The Great God's War foru concerns SRD's latest fantasy trilogy, of which the second book is coming out this month.
