It's just my real-life nickname. Pronounced like "e-mail." Looks better with a "y," though :)

But there are plenty other sub-forums here for all sorts of interests as well, so you can always join in there while you finish off the Chrons. ;)

If you enjoy cooking, I look forward to you sticking your head in The Galley.
If you have read and enjoyed Harry Potter or other JK Rowling works, come give the JKR forum a kick atart.

Yeah, I figure there's just too much chance to have things spoiled if I dig too deep, but might look around the off-topic forums. Like I've said, I have read the first six, it was just 30+ years ago. That's more than enough time for me to forget a lot!

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!

 To be sure
In Italy, crispy pancakes are known as Sofficini ("soft ones"): Wiki Link
I strongly advise caution when offering an invitation to a recipe.

Welcome to Kevinswatch FCP,
looking forward to your posts.

Its excellent to see you posting broadly across the board. If you tire of political volleying.. Mallorys is our light hearted escapist silly fun forum. Sometimes I feel the need for something light and collegiate 😉

Loved reading all your posts. You bring a very much appreciated set of skills and insight which are beyond doubt a value-add.

Great to have you on board 😉😎♥️

Hi everyone,
I have just put down The Illearth War after an unbroken stretch following a 2nd reading of Lord Foul's Bane. Very much into it right now.

A classmate in University first persuaded me to pick them up, but it took years before I was ready to really commit. At the time I think I was finishing Asimov's Foundation Series.

Now I am trying to get my kids to read more by osmosis, and it seems to be planting the seed.

I found the Land and its descriptions quite beautiful, the characters so deep and inspiring. Plot always kept me surprised.

Some quotes that stuck with me:
"...The hurt of his inadequacy showed clearly in his face, but he neither denied nor cursed at his weakness."

of Lord Mhoram when he explained to Hile Troy why he couldn't help Elena as she battled with Kevin under Rivenrock
Pg 512, The Illearth War

..."the subject of the Unbeliever. "Mhoram, don't you resent him? After what he's done?"" (Troy speaking)

"Evenly and openly, Lord Mhoram said, "I have no special virtue to make me resent him. One must have strength in order to judge the weakness of others. I am not so mighty.""

Looking forward to "Power that Preserves".

Stanley

Be Welcome to the Watch, Unfettered.
Be Well Come and True.

First time through the first chrons? What a treat you have ahead of you with seven more books to look forward to! If you wish to avoid spoilers, stay out of the chron forums for now, but feel free to visit the rest of the Watch.

I will warn you that the first and second chrons are considered no longer spoilerable, so you may come across reference to them in nonchron forums. Heck, now that KW (Jonathan) has finished the last chrons, those may even be free game now. I don't want to discourage from exploring the Watch and posting, but I do advise you proceed cautiously, if you wish to remain spoiler free.

I absolutely agree with you, Unfetterred01! The Land itself is so much more than a backdrop; it's like one of the precious characters in the story that MUST be defended!

Menolly's warning about spoilers is well-founded, and it would be a good idea to avoid The First and Second Chronicles forum until you have come to the end of book six, White Gold Wielder, unless you just want to create a thread there to ask us a question. The Group Readings threads, with their records of reaction to chapter events, are often entertaining, but of course you don't want to read any threads there that are dedicated to Chronicles chapters you haven't yet read. I envy you your first-time journey, as I consider Chronicles books such as The Illearth War, The Power That Preserves, The Wounded Land, and Fatal Revenant to be among the best fiction that I have EVER read. May you enjoy your journey, and I think you will.

Welcome to the Watch, Unfettered01!

Hello. Rereading the double trilogy these past several months (and found out there is a 3rd) at 50 years old after reading it first when I was 13. Shocked at how much either (a) these books have affected my thinking my entire life or (b) these books reflect my lifetime of thinking. Going to scrounge around this site a bit before returning to about page 75 of the One Tree. Perhaps I'll find some pithy parts of this forum, appears it is still (somewhat) active......
