For those in the embargoed territories, consider having friends / acquaintances / fellow Watchers not under those restrictions obtain and forward the CDs.
Or come to the USA for an Elohimfest, buy what you want, and take it home.
I'm uncertain, but I think the playback capabilities of US dvds and cds, if not mp3s, is different than what is used in those regions...

Welcome aboard DarkBuzz.

Can't do audio books, they're too slow.

Hello again and thank you all for your welcomes. Very much appreciated.
As for where I got my audio books from... well... I am very poor so download. Stephen Donaldson, George Lucas, Tolkein family, Marvel, et al have enough of my money already to last my lifetime. All the LC were bought new... in real shops.
Perhaps I will listen to Scott's versions in a few years time.
As for being too long... I get through about half a book a day... now half way through TWL as my reading only used to happen when on the bog... to put it bluntly.

A book a year. And with audio books I can potter about and have got back into my clay sculpting and painting. Thanos heads and baby Yoda for example.
The Atlas of The Land is also in my possession, a hardback book club one, also from eBay. Apparently there are other additional maps for The Land that she has done... I guess for the LC. Any idea where they are?
I have Gilden fire but didn't know where to read it. Any ideas? Is it essential?
Thanks again you lovely lot.

Welcome!
Gilden Fire fits in around the end of The Illearth War. It's not strictly essential, but it is worth reading.

Thank you Cord Hurn. I have already written it into the chapter listings in my copy of TIW and placed the GF folder between the audio book chapters.
I does seem to not quite fit in but I am glad SJD decided to release it. There is some very good info out there as to why he had to remove it. The book was too long and he had to remove 150 pages.
The Reave the Unjust post explains a lot.

Ok so I've got a confession. I've never read any of Stephen R. Donaldson's books. But my mother was a huge fan and told me how the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant was a super important book series to her on a personal level. The thing is my mother had a horrible brain disease that lead to her neglecting me and my siblings for years before we went to live with our dad and shortly after she had a stroke and went into a nursing home. She couldn't talk after that and didn't recognize me or my siblings at all. That was the last time I saw her, I was 16. My mother passed away recently and the nursing home failed to inform me she was in hospice until it was too late, she died on our way across the country with my infant son to go see her.
So much of my mother has been lost due to family issues and I'm desperate to find any little piece of her I can. If there's any way I can get some help finding her account I would be extremely grateful. All I really know is her e-mail where's she's from and I know I'd recognize her voice if I saw one of her posts. I also know she can't have been active past 2011 maybe 2012, maybe.

Hello and welcome, AlexBDCollie! I hope we can reconnect you with your mother's posts, somehow. As a mere moderator, I don't have access to people's email addresses. However, our administrator, Avatar, might be able to determine who she was from the email address. You could use the Search function with Avatar chosen, find a post of Avatars and click on the PM (Private Message) button, and ask him. Also, if we could get a good guess of what nickname she used, we could find posts to view fairly easily using the Search function, which will give yo a chance to determine if the voice of the posts fits your mother's style. We might be able to narrow it down considerably for you!

Alex, is your father named Issac? If so, I know who your mother was here.
Look through the posts of SoulQuest1970. She was a member from 2003 and last posted in November of 2011. I remember her fondly and am so sorry for your loss.

Alex,
I have not looked into this, so don't know what makes Savor Dam think SoulQuest is your mother. But Savor Dam doesn't say things without knowing what he is talking about, so he is probably right. If so, I remember your mother. I don't remember specific posts, although I'll look for them now. But I remember the impression that she was a very intelligent person.
As often happens on the internet, we don't get a nearly full picture of people from their typed words. This was the case with SoulQuest. I remember her from our first gathering in Albuquerque, many years ago. I remember her speaking to Stephen at the Q&A he was so kind to offer us. She told him, in front of all of us, what he had done for her through his writing. It was a very brave and touching moment, as she revealed a degree of the struggles she had been through in her life. She was grateful to have had the opportunity to actually thank the person who had, unknowingly, done so much for her. Obviously, it's not a moment I'll ever forget. The Q&A was recorded, although I don't remember if this, or anything else she may have said, is part of what's posted at the author's site. But you can check:
www.stephenrdonaldson.com/fromtheauthor/page.php?Page=4
We have learned something from The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant that you may not have learned elsewhere: Joy is in the ears that hear. All of us hope you can hear the joy in your mother's words here, and come to some peace and healing.

If SQ was Alex's mother, (which as per SD I consider probable), then it's
her mother.

(Right?)

Alex, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's loss. We're all poorer for it.
SQ's profile is here: kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=493
From it, you should be able to see all her posts. Hope this helps you find some insight into her, and maybe some closure.
Please let us know if this is indeed you. And of course you're welcome to stick around, even if you haven't read the Chrons. (Although of course you totally should.

)
Our thoughts are with you.
