Come on guys. I know it's "fun" but hey.... Let it rest. Hold onto that "precious glimpse" you've been given, revel in the fact you're privvy to it, and "celebrate" that knowledge, keep it precious, by not rubbing everyone elses face in it.

Agreed. I really don't feel like being further punished for not being able to make the Elohimfest....enough is enough. Sworn to secrecy? Fine. Then keep the fact that you know something secret, too.

We were not the ones to start this. We, knowing nothing, had no idea that there was even something to start, until you opened your big mouth. So don't preach that shit to me; I was quite fine until you guys started flaunting this crap.

( Didn't mean my post to go this way. I was just humorously (or so I thought) venting my frustration which by tomorrow I will probably be more rational about. )

Lucimay, I'm a little miffed by that! There's was "sniggering" going on and I responded to that. You're going to tell me that the "sniggering" had to do with something else? Come on, get real! And my last post was an "attempt" at actually saying what I felt about the whole matter. Might sound like sour grapes to you (you think I don't know what you know) but that's so far from the truth it's not funny. As I said elsewhere: I just guard my secrets more closely than other people do.
To translate what I said in my last post: I think all this "you don't know what we know" *degrades* what you know. Don't get angry with people because they keep bringing up something that was originally rubbed in their faces! If I thought that it was my knowledge to give, I would have happily told everyone the moment this first came up. But it's not mine to give.
And I'll leave it at that.
[At this is only directed at lucimay because I'm responding to what she said. What I've said is relevant to the whole incident in general.]

I have to agree with you, Seareach. I'm not happy with the 'secret' thing. If that's what makes some people feel special, fair enough; but some of us couldn't even make it to the DC meeting, so there's no reason to rub it in our faces.

Good one, Drew!
Drew (drew): Hi Steven. I've used the search function, and it appears that this question(s) has not been asked yet.
I asked on Kevenswatch once, but never really got an answer their, so I though I'd try it on you.
These questions are about the term *Bestseller*.
What constitutes a bestseller? Is it total sales? or sales in a specific time period?
Which of your books have been Bestsellers?
Thank you.
The term "bestseller" refers to *speed* of sales: sales in a specific time period. A book that sells 300,000 copies in one month is a major bestseller, even if it never sells another copy after that. A book that sells 1,000,000 copies in a year, and continues to sell for 20 years, can easily *not* be a bestseller.
(Of course, there are sub-categories of "bestsellers". A book can easily stay at the top of the sf/f genre bestseller lists for months without ever appearing on the NY Times Bestseller List.)
Leaving genre lists aside, only two of my books have ever been hardcover "bestsellers": "The One Tree" and "White Gold Wielder". The five "Covenant" books after LFB were all paperback bestsellers. BUT. After nearly 30 years, every book I've ever published is currently in print. I'll take that over bestseller-dom any day.

I just ran into this comment by SRD and nearly busted a gut laughing.
Even questions like "Could Saltheart Foamfollower beat up Hercules?" are not entirely devoid of merit. <grin>

Um ... that's a different Stephen Donaldson. THAT one wrote a bunch of stuff on homosexuality and prison rape and other fun stuff like that. He died several years ago, and some people thought that it was SRD that died (Piers Anthony had something in his blog about it).
But the first time I saw the other SD in Amazon, I raised an eyebrow as well - particularly because of the subject of rape. But I quickly searched a bunch more around the web and it became clear that there were two SDs out there.
