While driving home from work I was listening to the middle sections of Mahler's Second Symphony.
I am now listening to the opening movement of Dvorak's Ninth Symphony. Good stuff.

Today my Amazon shipment came.
Included, along with Mark Jeffrey's (a member here) fantasy book, was a jazz CD from the Fred Hersch Ensemble. It is called
Leaves of Grass and features poems by Walt Whitman set to jazz songs.

I have always loved that song (and the album it comes from).
Yes, I am now in the midst of Mark Jeffrey's book,
The Pocket and the Pendant. I think his name here is markjeffrey? It's a fanasty book, and has wild stuff in it like superhuman powers, the freezing of time, and UFOs. Its fast paced, and so far I am enjoying it.
And another member, aTOMic, has a book of short stories coming out in May.

Oh well, one can also like classical music without necessarily liking orchestral stuff, so that's fair, heh heh.
But I LOVE big band era music: Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, the Andrews Sisters, Glenn Miller of course, and many others...
