Less Than Jake - Anthem. An album that it occurs to me I had previously underappreciated.

While driving home from work I was listening to the middle sections of Mahler's Second Symphony.

I am now listening to the opening movement of Dvorak's Ninth Symphony. Good stuff. 8)

Today my Amazon shipment came. :) Included, along with Mark Jeffrey's (a member here) fantasy book, was a jazz CD from the Fred Hersch Ensemble. It is called Leaves of Grass and features poems by Walt Whitman set to jazz songs. Image

I have always loved that song (and the album it comes from). :) Yes, I am now in the midst of Mark Jeffrey's book, The Pocket and the Pendant. I think his name here is markjeffrey? It's a fanasty book, and has wild stuff in it like superhuman powers, the freezing of time, and UFOs. Its fast paced, and so far I am enjoying it.

And another member, aTOMic, has a book of short stories coming out in May. 8)

Eating breakfast to Beethoven's middle string quartets. I'm lovin' it, Fist!

Just bought the DGM reissues of In the Court of the Crimson King and In the Wake of Poseidon. Danlo, you were right: "Cat Food" kicks ass!

It was the Artie Shaw Orchestra. He actually likes a lot of jazz -- just not the big band stuff.

Tonight I am listening to James Taylor's Greatest Hits. :)

What?? Liking jazz but not Big Band? Heresy! ;)

Oh well, one can also like classical music without necessarily liking orchestral stuff, so that's fair, heh heh.

But I LOVE big band era music: Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, the Andrews Sisters, Glenn Miller of course, and many others... :D

Hmm, I'm inspired to put some on right now... :)

In order to cheer myself up (I just looked outside and saw that it is snowing) I am listening to a bunch of Motown this morning. :)
