That was an episode that told us A LOT!!

1) The black smoke can take forms. This explains Jack's Dad, kate's horse, Sawyer's boar, Visions of Walt, perhaps the "teddy bear" others as well.

2) There is a divide between Good v. bad and the smoke makes the judgement. Locke saw something beautiful (locke wa told he was a "good one", remember?, Eko was on the precipice, was told to confess, chose pride, and was executed.

3) The Others are on a different island, perhaps to steer clear of this thing, and/or to stay out of the sphere of influence of the electromagnetics.

4) If Jack elects to kill Henry/Ben...I fear for his safety.

5) Sawyer better watch out too.

I just caught the trailer for next weeks episode!!!!!
Is next weeks (episode 6) really the season finale????

6 Episodes is rediculous if it is.

What? 6 or 13 episodes is a common Season in Britain?

Seriously, though, the first two years, people whined and complained about the reruns and how difficult it was to follow the show the second half of the season (5 new eps, 3 reruns, 3 new eps, 2 reruns, etc).

So, what they did this year, is to make a 6 episode mini-arc to get them from Premiere to Nov Sweeps. Nov 15-Feb 8(?) will be a new show starring Taye Diggs called Daybreak, which is a cop who's accused of murdering his girlfriend (I think GF) and the day continues repeating so he can solve the crime (The same day for the entire run, from what I understand). This series will run for 12 or 13 weeks, and then LOST returns in Feb (For Feb Sweeps) with the 16 or 17 remaining episodes of the season, without reruns.

It is not the SEASOn FINALE...they arte calling it the FALL season finale. They are coming back in february for the SPRING season. This was in response to last seasons cricism that it was too much like this:

new epsiode, repeat, new, new, repeat, new, repeat repeat...

So Sad to see Eko die, he really shouldn't have told Yemi he wouldn't ask for forgiveness. Smokey has a bit of a temper

Nice to see Locke is back. I'm confused about Locke seeming not to know what all the TV screens were for, he was watching the Swan the last time he was there, and that's what made him lose his faith.

Ben is one truly scary twisted individual. If he truly is the lesser of two evils, te writers are gonna have to dig pretty deep to write his nemesis' psyche. Jack wasn't watching Juliet on a monitor, right? That means someone was reading the cue cards, and I can't believe Juliet wouldn't know about the possibility, so Jack is still being played, to see which decision he'll make.

I swear, in last week's previews, "eye patch guy" loked like a Grey.

Ahh yes, excellent point! I missed that connection with all the other visions, but that must be it.

I am really sorry for the ending and see no reason to it.

Ecko was the best new character and his death served no purpose, unlike the other two tailies Michael shot so that we could at least hate him even more. With Ecko's death ... it's just plain empty death.

And the two new character that came out of no where are zzzzzz.

Ahh yes, excellent point! I missed that connection with all the other visions, but that must be it.

the event showed that the island alone is capable of discerning good fro bad and acting on its judgements. There is much to be feared here. Also the new characters are good in the sense that the writers are bringing in new elements that could potentially explain more and more bout the Dharma and the island, etc through their flashbacks. Plus the girl is cute!

What I meant where the two new characters that went with Locke, etc to the other hatch; they seem a bit 2 dimentional even after a couple eps. Yes, the Others are fully fleshed out characters already and I look forward to their flashbacks.

It only works for the right people in the right place, Sarge. It'd probably even make the wrong people worse instead of better (I have a suspicion about Sawyer's bad eyesight developing not long after they arrived).

Well, perhaps Benry needs to spend more time on the other island. OR it is all a ruse designed to manipulate Jack. You know he MUST fix things...they could be exploiting that personailty flaw.

Possibly, but I'm not so sure. He reproached Mrs. Other by saying out of Jacks earshot something like, "You told him about my tumor?!"

not sure that wasn't for show. if it is legit are kate and sawyer held to get jack to reject the lost and stick with the others?

I'm really starting to lose patience with Lost. The ONLY character left from the tail section is now Bernard. He was never intended to be a main character or to even have his own flashback. It wasn't until after the producers realized Rose/Bernard were popular that they gave 'em a flashback. In other words, there was no long term plan for Bernard.

So since all the major characters from the tail section are dead, what was the freakin' point to the entire first half of the second season?!? In terms of the overall story . . . nothing. That entire plot thread was a big waste of time; it didn't move the story forward one bit. It merely provided the logistics necessary to get Michael back to the beach, where he could be led off for "programming."

Since the 1st half was a waste, the only point to the second season was the introduction of Henry Gale. And now we've learned that the whole point of that plot thread was to trick Jack into saving his life.

So, we're nearly halfway through the entire series (the producers said the overall story arc would take about 5 years), and the only significant "unfolding" of the canvas has been to show us that Ben needs surgery.

I don't want all the questions answered immediately. But I reeeaaally hope there is more going on. The fact that the producers will waste half a season for zero payoff has me worried. It's getting harder and harder to defend Lost against charges of "the writers are just winging it," "there is no overall plan." It's getting harder to believe the producers' claim that "everything means something." Guess what: 12 episodes of season 2 meant nothing.

Yeah, I'm pissed that Eko died. Tonight's episode better have some payoff.

i find it refreshing that the story is much like real life. the tail section people died because that happens in life. i am enjoying seeing how the pieces fit together.
