In mid-July, I'll either be eating copious amounts of humbie pie, or cooking up tons o' crow!

I admit I am theorizing with only stroy threads as potential proof(s). I cannot believe that Snape is a baddie, and therefore am looking for the means to suggest his complex motivations within the context of JKR's own suggestions.

Ya know, I've read that severl times now, but has a book release date of Harry's birthday this year been announced? The last book released on the same day as the next movie? I haven't even heard that Jo has finished the first write through yet...

Menolly! don't make Guns cry! If you suggest things like that he really WILL cry! Let him cling to his illusions.

No, no official date has been announced, only rumors. If we don't get confirmation by end of February, it probably won't happen, as the books are usually announced 4-6 months before the actual release.

The rumors are not the date of the movie release though, the rumors are 07-07-07 (7 is an important number throughout the series) or 07-31-07 (JKR and Harry and Neville's birthday). It will have been 2 years, so, it's possible she may indeed have been aiming for this date.

I agree, the marketing departments probably wouldn't like either of these dates, as they are both close to the movie release date. However, many people, myself included, say a release so close together would not impede their spending on both products, so, who knows, maybe?

I TOLD you not to read those Guns. It's ok, there there, just think of all the fun debating we can do with one another in the interim. You still have the movie AND FR to look forward to. It's ok, (hugs Guns). There there baby, it's allright, no need to be upset, it will come in due time, when Jo is ready.

I knew you would be upset. Seriously though, think of it as an opportunity for us to get some more book 7 theoretical debate time in. I am seriously enjoying this.

And I am a closet Potter-ite around friends. I can't wait for the release.
If it comes arounf SRD's FR, I will probably read Potter first. Not because I think it will be better (hardly!), but it is an easier read. I have to concentrate reading SRD--- absorb his words and imagry.
Potter will be a great, quick read and I imagine a great ending to a wonderful series!

Can't wait!

OMIGOD. If Potter and FR are released simutaneously, it will be (for me) like matter touching anti-matter. My brain will explode.

But didn't we determine already that Fatal revenant and Deathly Hallows were indeed the same book?

WE DID???!!! 8O :P

Ok, I've got one for you guys. Just finished my reread of the HP's and I found a possible discrepancy. In book 4, during the sorting hat's song he says that Gryffindor came up with the solution for sorting and whipped him off his head and they put brains in him. In book 6 Dumbledore says that they have the ONLY known object of Godric Gryffindor and points to the sword. Technically the sorting hat is also a former possession of GG. I first thought "HA! mistake." then I thought, "OR IS IT!" Why would Fawkes have shown up with the sorting hat in the Chamber of Secrets if it weren't important somehow. Why did he show up with the hat forcing Harry to pull the sword out of the hat himself. Why didn't Fawkes just show up with the sword itself? Any thoughts on this guys?

Yeah, we did in one of these threads. It may have been before you joined us here on the Watch though, Jenn. But the title of book seven was just released last month or so, right?

I always figured the sorting hat was less of an incumberance on Fawkes than the sword, so he was able to fly faster to Harry. But, that is a pretty simplistic POV I guess...

Menolly, you think it's just a mistake? Because it very well could be and I could just be reading too much into it and grasping at straws. I also think that easier to fly with is a quite reasonable answer.

I forget who, but, someone posted the definitions and interpretations of Deathly and Hallows, and eventually translated Deathly to Fatal, and Hallows to Revenant.

Good question. I've always wondered if the sword is the heart and soul of the Hat. Been a while since I read Book 2. Is the hat still animated after removing the sword?

No...I think it's possible even Dumbledore didn't know the history of the sorting hat? But will admit that's highly unlikely.

Thanks.

Anyway, here's Wayfriend's incredible post about the two titles being one and the same...
