The Superbowl is this weekend? Who's playing?

:haha:

At one workplace, I got talked into kicking in some cash for the Superbowl lottery. Then I asked, "When is it?" I thought the guy was gonna have a heart attack on the spot....

This year, it's da Bears v. da Colts. In Miami. I only know this because I have friends in Indy who are *thrilled*.

Last weekend: My very first Czech lesson on Saturday morning, then drove Youngest Daughter to stage crew, where a falling 2x4 gashed open her little finger at the joint, poor thing! No stitches required, but it looks properly nasty.... Sunday, we chilled out all day 'til I had to go to a Girl Scout recognitions committee meeting in the evening.

This weekend: Czech lesson in the morning -- did I mention I'm driving to Baltimore for these classes? -- then hightail it back home to take the widdle kitty to the vet (he's got gunky eyes again). I've gotta take some books back to the library. Probably ought to clean the house (eww). I need to get Younger Daughter to complete a scholarship application. And I won't be watching the game because I hate football. (I was in marching band in high school, see, and our team was pathetic -- in 3 years, we tied one game and lost the rest. So I was forced to sit in the stands, through the rain and the cold and the snow and the mud, and watch our team get its clock cleaned every freakin' week for three solid years. It scarred me forever.)

One F***ed-up weekend for me.
(The worst I've ever had!)
Last Thursday night and all of Friday, I was sick with a flu-bug.
Saturday morning things got worse...
my Father died at the age of 77 years old.
Both my parents and my 3 Brothers are a tight-knit family. A tragic loss to us.
I will be away for about a week to care for my Mother,
who was married to my Father for 53 years.
My younger Brother and I are the only two who live in Florida and
will have to make sure that she will come through with this O.K.
After the dust settles, I will be back.
"Thanx"

I've spent my Sunday being sidetracked. Got sucked into Wikipedia, and found myself reading about military conflicts in China over the last 150 years or so--triggered by finding out that Taiwan is actually the Republic of China. Some interesting stuff, but pretty much pointless for me to know it.

Sorry to hear about your loss Cheval. Will be thinking of you.

Weekend was too short...thankfully, did nothing at all on Saturday, which was just what I wanted to do.

Sunday, saw my brother (his birthday), then went climbing in the afternoon. Bruised my knee, but otherwise all good.

Completely ruined by the fact that I had to come to work today though.

I had a swim meet on Saturday which thankfully went much better than the previous ones. Only one more until conferences!

Instead of going to the numerous parties around campus I went into the city with a visiting friend and some teammates who were also looking for activities that didn't include drinking (the team is going dry for a few weeks until after our big meet at which point in time all kegs will break loose.) After that, I went to a showing of The Departed on campus and then went to bed.

Sunday, I showed my friend around the city and after dropping him off at the train to the airport, came back to campus to begin work on my infinite homework.

fun fun.

Yeah, schoolwork is kind of killing me, but swimming is almost over and then I'll have all the time in the world. Maybe I'll be able to post a few random things now and again to keep in touch. I've missed the Watchers!

This weekend my flatmate and I flew to Wellington (capital of New Zealand) to catch up with a friend and go out drinking.

After drinking half a bottle of mezcal, we went decided that Bungy Extreme would be a good idea. "What is Bungy Extreme?" you ask. Three people are strapped into an open capsule which is connected to two bungy cords winched to two 40m towers. The capsule is then catapulted 55m into the air at speeds of up to 160km per hour in less than two seconds, experiencing 5gs. :D

The next day we sat in the sun (my flatmate got burnt) before going to Te Papa (the national museum of NZ) to see an egyptology exhibition with a real mummy.
