The best part about it is that one can see the Coalsack nebula (just to the lower left of the Southern Cross), and Alpha Centauri (bright star to the far left).

Spent another hour looking at stars and planets. The view of Jupiter was almost perfect after I collimated the mirrors on my newtonian telescope, and managed to sight a double star system, Rigil Centaurus. Rigil contains Alpha Centauri and Alpha Centaur B.

I just purchased a CCD Deep Space Colour Imager for my telescope. It has exposures between .001s to 100mins. I cannot wait to use it.
