Berenford does make a very good point as far as SRD's no more time travel. But SRD may have changed his mind. But thats where we will find out..
So what if Linden does the TT thing.(SRD does allow it)
What period of time does she travel to?
I would presume that it has to be before Dameon Giantfriend made the door.
Could this influence the warding of the Eartblood?
Who would have the power to sense her arrival?
Would she have the new Staff of Law with her?
This poses problems or she may preceed the 1st staff and before Berek quest.
She may be the force that drives Berek to make the pack with the Land.
She could be an oracle for the "Return of Berek"
What is it that she would command? (Thats the million dollar question)
Her travel would span at least 9000+ years!. (2000 years from the RoD by Kevin to TC 1st appearance, 3500 years to the Sunbane and another 3500 years to the Kevin Dirt era, plus the lifespans from Berek to Kevin- more or less)
Or Esmer could have alluded to something different, a new race to the Earthblood.

If the 'Manacles' are really Kevin's Dirt, and the Ur-Viles made them, perhaps the reasno for Kevin's Dirt is, since it destroys healthsense (atleast while under its effects,) no one can find the Earthblood, which perhaps has become exposed somewhere?

About the manacles...I don't think it's Kevin's Dirt, because Esmer is talking like it's something Linden still needs to worry about. Kevin's Dirt has already served it's purpose...if it went away tomorrow, the people of the Land still wouldn't be able to use EarthPower because they've lost all the lore. The more powerful types weren't affected by Kevin's Dirt to begin with.
I'm wondering if it the manacles might have something to do with some scenes in TPTP...a wedge of ur-viles cast some kind of spell on Covenant at Landsdrop, and then at the very end of the book an ur-vile was able to use that spell to put Covenant in shackles and lead him into Lord Foul's throne room. Maybe the spell is still in effect? If it's not that, there are a whole bunch of other characters who could stand a good shackling, starting with Kastenessen.
[snark]We know the manacles aren't going to be used on Linden. If the ur-viles were targetting Linden, they'd construct a gag instead.[/snark]

Esmer doesn't call them manacles -- he calls them Manacles. So, some kind of restraint, but probably not the prosaic handcuffs we're used to.
I'm voting for Ur-Dead's suggestion of a new race to the Earthblood. That one sentence, btw, stopped me cold. Holy cow, just what we need -- Linden on Earthblood. If this turns out as badly as Elena's little sip of the stuff did, I might have to join THOOLAH....
Romeo -- I'll give you a little MLT, buddy....

If Linden is to race someone to the Earthblood my guess is that her opponent would be Roger. Joan is too far gone in madness, and (as someone has pointed out above) most of the other players would be able to get there by magical means before her anyway.

I was under the impression that Roger was pretty much useless, since he was Foul's tool?

That would not prevent him from drinking Earthblood.

I would imagine that Roger is who LInden would have to race to the Earthblood against.
Really, weather or not it is in this time or not!! As I'm sure Roger can use a ceasure alos.
I'd also like to point out, that he's probebly more than just a tool of Foul's.
He probely is now in higher favour than the three Ravers are.

Just a point.. Every thing, person, spirit, bane or creature is a tool of Foul. He's been jaded and has contempt for all beings/things of lesser ability or power.
He only want to break out and take revenge against the Land's creator. His real enemy.
In TPTP, the ravers couldn't look at him and really feared Foul.
Foul doesn't favor anything, Roger is a small tool to cause TC some dispair.

Re: I was under the impression that Roger was pretty much useless, since he was Foul's tool?
Useless how? OK, he can't break the Arch of Time, but that doesn't mean he can't do a lot of damage otherwise. Dead Elena wielding the Staff of Law at Landsdrop was totally Foul's tool, but she was a key force in imposing Foul's Winter on the Land. And Gibbon na-Mhoram (and his Raver-possessed predecessors) may have been a tool as well, but the Clave and Banefire were not exactly harmless.

This is an excellent point, and perhaps this holds true for many readers. However, I'm a ripe young 40, and have spent the last eight years or so enchanted with Harry Potter.
And when I revisit and reread The Celebration of Spring, it all comes back to me.
That said, I'm usually the oddball, so perhaps it's just me.
Still - great post, good point.

Seems no one has picked up on Thranduil's observation?
Upon reflection, I can't help but think, this may be significant. Glimmermere recognized TC because of his spiritual unity with the Arch, I surmise. He had become a player on a cosmic scale. Which Linden had yet achieved.
On the other hand, if Glimmermere is reflecting (pun intended) Covenant's relationship with the white gold - recognizing that Covanent has accepted and mastered that he is the white gold - then we can only conclude that Glimmermere is now affirming that Linden has not made this leap, or is not in the same relation.
