I could see getting the UK version. It has a great collectable cover. Since Creator is also buying the book when it's released, that's cool, it puts money in SRD's pocket, rather than only in the pocket of someone who's preying on us poor weird SRD fans.

Ha! Good one.

Not to mention that there was nothing contrary to Ebay's policies in Peter's bidding.

Some people just like to feel put upon.
Thanks Cail! :)

Yeah ... for Runes I actually have BOTH ARCs (UK and US); Both published works SIGNED!! (UK and US); and the Audio CD version - go ahead and say it - I'm a SRD GEEK!!

Don't be mean to me. My ARC is going into a hermetically sealed vault. I am not reading it. I will first read FR when I get my copy from Amazon, like everyone else.

So, please compliment me on my amazing fortitude of having a copy of FR and not reading it! Instead of chastising me for stealing SRDs money. (Did anyone really think I could do such a thing?)

Now you're just being mean, too! I said several times what made me maddest was his coming onto the board and telling lies about me. What excuse is there for that, Cail? What policy does that follow?

I'm second maddest at his playing cut-throat with no fair warning - not because it's illegal, but because just not nice to a fellow watcher. (Peter could not have known at that time that I would have lost anyway, so that's not an excuse.)

And some people just like to get their cheap shots in, when they think it's all safe.

You make it so easy.

If you bid your conscience and what you can afford, then there's no issue. You lost. Deal with it.

You are inept at making it be about something else. Deal with it.

As I said before - I was trying to make a 'good natured' JOKE ... the ":P" emoticon was intended to indicate that. I am sorry that you took it seriously.

Told lies? Please. He jokingly called you a rat, to which you've overreacted. I've met Peter, and I've seen him post here for what, 3 years or so? Unless I'm completely inept at reading people, the man doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

You're acting like a child because you got out bid, and it's pathetic.

The only thing that's pathetic is your persistance in the face of being both utterly wrong and irredeemably thuggish.

Hey guys, I think this is getting a little out of hand. Can we all make nice and let it go? Please Please Please? Pretty please with sugar on top?

way...

he didn't tell lies about you. that's an exaggeration.

bidding is war, kev. and peter is very competative,
it didn't look to me like, from what i read
earlier in this thread, that you'd ever done that before, bid on
anything on ebay...

so can't you chalk this up to a learning experience? does it really
have to be personal?

:(

You could have kept it to PMs...For gods sakes everybody is this what Elohimfest '07 was all about? (I thought it was a gathering that created friendships) Peter and Kevin met in Albq. They're BOTH some of the nicest guys I've ever met--as is Cail, who I met in DC.

OK this is either a gross misunderstanding or competition...Cail calm down-I may just take a prolonged vacation from here if people I consider friends don't find a civilized way to resolve this-it's just a fucking book!!! (sorry I cursed, I'm pissed!)

Why can't we all just get along? (use Rodney King voice when reading)

I am truly sorry for having been a factor in what seems to have evolved into an argument of 'tank like proportions. Seriously.

I am sorry if you thought it mean to you in particular. It was not particularly aimed at you, even if I did use your word "integrity". I was just a little miffed by you guys being so blatantly, uabashedly involved in the piracy of everyones favourite author.

No matter how many books, tapes etc. you are going to buy, you are still -according to principles of the free market - part of the the 'demand'. This eventually results in person A NOT buying FR in hardback, because he has already been ripped off at e-bay by some "crazy collectors" who jacked the price up. So yes, you ARE costing SRD money, like it or not.

He's entitled to his royalties. I've been to his house, it's nice but he's not incredibly wealthy, he's not even really terribly rich. He's merely comfortable.
