That song very nearly cost me my belief in rock and roll as an art form.

I very seriously considered the costs, both personal and financial, for assisinating all inloved for that peerless dreck.

Verily, I loathe it so, that the memory of it aill keep me awake at night.

As bad as that wretched song was, there is one that is worse, as I argued three years ago:

WORST. SONGS. EVER.
Ol' TJ does seem to top just about everybody's list in that regard. IIRC several yrs ago when someone pub'd a book listing outstandingly cheesy, crappy, or universally despised pop music, they named it after the chorus of SitS.

I trust you specifically meant the 1970's cover of "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede? (HOOGACHUKKA HOOGAHOOGAHOOGACHUKKA HOOGAHOOGAHOOGACHUKKA...) Not that the original was great shakes either. At least that chant adds a sort of doubleyouteeeff dimension. :?

Jefferson Starship really went "pop" in the mid 80's, didn't it? IMO "No One's Gonna Stop Us Now," the theme from the movie Mannequin (Remember it? Me neither) was even worse than "We Built This City."

Let me nominate additionally everything Paul McCartney did after he ran out of stuff he originally wrote as a Beatle or shortly after, i.e. late-70's onward.

The thing about We Built This City that makes it so grating to me is the staggering betrayal/downfall of Grace Slick/ Jefferson Air/ship. It was like, say it isn't so!!

For me, it's Billy Joel's Big Shot, but any pop duet of the 80's or 90's could probably qualify. There's something about those duets. >:(

I wouldn't go to the waiting room to hell, I'd go to the black lodge and hear cool jazz. Talk to aliens and evil spirits, etc.,
Usually you avoid the usual hell when you fool with weird magic.

Blinded by the Light - heard it on the radio this morning and reminded me how I dislike that piece. And it's an earworm.
