wow - how much were they? the collected graphic i supposed to come out this week.

julie got for me (reduced) at Hastings...

She-Hulk : Single Green Female

Civil War : Script Book

What If? Classics : Volume 2, Volume 4

Exiles : Starting Over

Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe : Volume 3

---------------------

I am close to complete on the She Hulk and What If? Classics. the only Essential editions I am interested in are the Handbooks, as I don't need the color, because it is a sourcebook.

our Hastings carriesd lots of reduced Marvel and Independent graphic novels, but not a lot of DC. not sure why.

$50 for all four. I suspect the graphic novel is what motivated the dude to sell the comics.

issues #37, #38, #39, #40, #41 are prologues to the Flex story. adding pieces to the story while telling different main stories.

issues #42 - #44 tell the Flex Mentallo story.

krazy kat - dc is bringing Looker into the new 52...

from their release...

Once upon a time, DC was called National Comics. After that name change, there was an anthology series in the 1940s called National Comics that introduced eventual DC characters like Uncle Sam and Max Mercury. Now, the title is getting revived this July as a new anthology series for the New 52 era, giving us one-shot stories reintroducing us to some obscure characters.

Here's the run-down of what we're going to get in this effort.

Eternity, written by Animal Man and Frankenstein scribe Jeff Lemire with art from Cully Hammer, focusing on a coroner-cum-clumsy-detective named Christopher Freeman who gains the ability to resurrect the dead long enough to help them find justice for their murderers.

Madame X, from writer Rob Williams and artist Trevor Hairsine, giving us the story of a psychic consultant to a law firm using tarot cards to help lawyers gather quality evidence for their trials.

Rose and Thorn, by Tom Taylor and Neil Googe, about Rose Canton and her Jekyll-and-Hyde personality issues with her vengeful side.

Looker, from Ian Edington and Mike S. Miller, showing us Emily Briggs, a model-turned-vampire stalking the ugly underbelly of the fashion industry to find the creep who turned her.

Looker is a vampire now? wtf is wrong with comic books these days? Multicolored emotional energy rings? Red Hulks? Stupid wisecracking anti-heroes who break the fourth wall?

I can't iterate how bored I am with the old standards--it is ridiculous to keep retconning or redefining Batman, Superman, Spiderman, etc. every 10 years or so.

Of course, I don't buy comics at all anymore. It has probably been 15 years since I last did, except for having to get another copy of Watchmen a couple of years ago or the random Flaming Carrot issue I happen to uncover.

I would like to do away with all the old tried-and-true characters and get people to develop new ideas, new character concepts, and investigate our new cultural identities which have changed significantly since the time those characters were created. The world isn't like it was in the 1930s, you know.

I don't usually buy comics, maybe once in while something catches my eye, like the Outsiders. And I've pretty much exhausted all the graphic novels the local library had to offer. The thing is sarg, here in Coventry, comic sellers are very thin on the ground. I mean, real scarce.

(The first and second chronicles have been discontinued from the libraries here due to lack of interest!!!!)

Thanks though. I'll certainly keep that in mind.

And agree with Hashi about superhero recycling.

Haven't the guys at Marvel done anything with the Silver Surfer and the world wide web. Even in an abstract way you would think Norman Radd the ideal superhero to flush out undesirables in cyberspace?!?

After the destruction of the Cancerverse and the deaths of Nova and Star-Lord, the universe was left without protectors. Two organizations dedicated to policing and keeping the galaxy safe – the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Nova Corps – were no more, but the threats were still out there. The task of bringing together the individuals able to battle those threats fell upon Star-Lord's friend and teammate, Cosmo. Cosmo had been secretly meeting with several powerful heroes and when King Blastaar sought to take advantage of the weakened state of the universe, attacking the Inhumans in their royal city of Attilan to expand his empire, the Annihilators made their momentous debut. Quasar, Beta Ray Bill, the Silver Surfer, Ronan of the Kree and Gladiator of the Shi'ar empire drove Blastaar’s forces back to the Negative Zone and saved the Inhuman royal family. These five heavyweights agreed to only come together in times of need, but while taking a tour of Knowhere a Spaceknight called Ikon appeared seeking their help.
