I both love and hate the Watchy Awards!
But thank you Syl keeping it going.
I hate it because my memory is so bad.
I actually make posts like "best post of the year!" but then when it's time for the Watchies I have no clue where I said something like that.
So I try to search and find out what I really enjoyed the past year and want to nominate and notice that more than an hour has gone by or that someone has changed their avatar or signature...... arrghh!!

That was the whole point of the "Spotlights," HLT.
So we could post which posts/threads we wanted to remember at nomination time.
It was an excellent innovation on the Watchies on Syl's part.
Try scrolling up to the beginning of each nomination thread. Perhaps some of those you are thinking of were Spotlighted at the time.

Ok, everyone's ballot except Menolly's will be unread. Please title the PM "2008 Ballot." Exactly. Quotation marks not necessary. Otherwise, my PM reflexes take over, even if it's probably obvious what the PM is about.

Ok, so apparently saving PMs counts them as read, so all of clan Wagner has been "read." Sorry. Montressor, I believe I have your votes.

It's a secret ballot, so yeah.

If everyone follows the sample ballot, I'd have to check to see who did. Too much work. ;)

It wouldn't bother me that he would know that I voted for myself. In fact, I don't mind if everyone knows. I VOTED FOR MYSELF!

This may sound like a silly question, but are we required to cast a vote in every category? I only ask because your system sounds like it may have some level of automation and I don't want to screw it up.

AjK...

I certainly hope not, as I know I didn't vote in every category.
However, I did list "abstain" for those categories I didn't vote in.
I'm not sure how my guys handled their ballots, but I know they voted in far fewer categories than I did.

Ah, "abstain". The story of my teenage dating career!

Thanks, Menolly! While I will be voting on the categories in which I am entered (although certainly voting for someone more deserving than myself  ) I wanted to be able to abstain from voting on categories on which I really didn't have a strong enough opinion. Thanks again!
