Indeed, Nyx! I like that way of thinking! I'll keep my eyes open for opportunities along these lines.

A life for a life Chime. Thus has it always been, and will always be. What life matters little, for all lives end.

A life for a life, eh?

That sounds like a deal. But where's the profit? And where is the purpose? A full life willingly sacrificed for another, who may only live another day because of it: now that would be a Fairdeal! MUCH more satisfying!

Profit? Not one life has ever come before me in possession of anything more than its soul. There is no profit.

Ah, Antaka! You speak the truth, no doubt!

The profit, or the purpose, is left in the land of the living!

And truly, those who benefit (however fleetingly), will end up with nothing in your halls. Yet they, in turn, may pass on a fairdeal before they perish and join you. This is the spirit that I endeavour to promote! To you it may seem futile, to me ..? To me, it is nectar!

Ah, the Gardens are doing wonderfully! Szabad and my Sunbeam are keeping the plants warm, and giving them plenty of Sunlight! Do take a look, folks!

Ah. I had wondered what that business was all about.

Ah! *shaking head* All this strife and chaos is so bad for business.

It's bad for everybody, except for Kai and Krinn.

Oh come, don't you like a little excitement in your life?

No offense meant, Kai. But I'd choose Libidinal's kind of excitement to yours. And I'd choose contented boredom to either.

Then I guess you should prepare to be disappointed.

Indeed.

Brother Sun and Sister Dark (how well that sounds!), your cooperation astounds and delights me!

However....no, never mind.

From such well-meant intentions, surely (SURELY!) only good can come!

Intent is all we really have. There is always the possibility of unforseen consequences. For us; for the people who worship us; for the branch falling over the waterfall. If we do not act unless we are certain there would be no unfavorable, unforseen consequences, we would all be completely paralyzed with fear.

And even then, those who once worshiped us might take our inaction as a sign of our displeasure with them, and begin killing each other to make amends.

No, I can only do what I think is right.

Which is the greater failure? Trying and failing, or failing to try?

Virelai, I thank you for the increase in women entering the city.

It is my pleasure, Diana.
They come in search of various things, as suits the individual's nature.

Some come as potential brides.
Some in search of their own fortune or fame.
Some on pilgrimage.

Perhaps other reasons as well, which are currently unknown to me.

May the City welcome and embrace them with gentle, open arms.

mil-rd Chime.

It has come to my attention that the new judge is sentencing convicts to work in chain gangs at manual labor in the Arts District. For this I am grateful, as the District is looking more safe and secure.

Tell me, if you can. Are there any rumors afloat of musically gifted among the convicted? The discipline of Song may help make better citizens of the convicted at the end of their sentences.
