I have the money together for the trip, so now it's a case of deciding how long I'm going to stay for and booking the flights and hotels. I'd hope to get in on the Wednesday or Thursday before the 23 June and then tour around for a week or more afterwards. I'd be interested in seeing Taos as well if there was a gang going. I have it in mind to see the Panhandle (since I'm in the vicinity) so I could use Taos as my base for heading out into the back-of-beyonds.* (We're used to the back-of-beyonds here in Ireland  )

I sense a plan forming

*Then If I have time, I wouldn't mind heading down to Mexico (again seeing as I'm in the vicinity).
I'm getting in on the 17th (which happens to be my birthday :D ) and staying until the next Thursday. Ali, Iolanthe and I are heading up to Taos, Santa Fe and Ojo Caliente after the fest.
We'll use your birthday celebrations to start the 'Fest early!

I'd love to come along to Elohimfest 4. I know I don't post that often, but I do read the website and consider all of you good friends, so it would be awesome to meet you guys and celebrate all things SRD. Just a little matter of finishing reading the Last Chrons as there's no way I can come along and just put fingers in my ears and says "spoilers!" the whole time. hehe

I'm sorry but this is a seniorfest and only those with 35000 posts or more may attend this fest. I am the sole exception because my 2700 posts are so intelligent and so insightful that they are equivalent to 50000 posts from all those mortal creatures down there. I am an insequent, if you haven't already guessed. So get those fingers working.

lorin, look again at the shadow sword at duke's hip. He may not post much (indeed, only Avatar and Sarge clear the bar you set; even the loquacious [among other adjectives] Menolly only has a shade less than 22k), but he comes well-armed to the party. Encourage him to venture o'er the broad Pacific and join us for Elohimfest. Maybe if he does so, your Watch-husband and other supposed residents of those mythical lands will also grace us with their presence.

Awwww, common, SD. He know's I was kidding. And my Watch husband has been AWOL way too long. I just sent him another message. Maybe he thinks I'm a stalker. 8O

Hey, sorry I haven't been around and took so long to get back to y'all on this. Just want you to know that we're not sitting idle on things at this end. I did talk to Leslie's classmate, Rob O'Neill, about using the banquet/special events meeting room adjacent to his large bar/restaurant, which has plenty of light and privacy. He now tells me that he's in the process of changing that room into a Sports Bar/Pizza place, but will attempt to keep me in mind if he foresees it being available then. The good news is that the NBA Championship should be over by then, the bad news is that I can't trust that at this point, so I'm going to try to meet with Bob Vardeman this week and hash out some other ideas. I'm also not sold on my friends who filmed the last time and am ready to go back to the professional outfit we used at E-fest 2, but I need to coordinate with Romeo and this and further options. 8)

Duke, yes please come to the party. Last E-Fest I hadn't read the book either, but then again, it wasn't the last book. You can probably expect some discussion of the books here and there, but if you dodge those conversations, you can still have fun, as most of the conversations are about other things. The author event is probably the section you will have the most problem avoiding spoilers. So you can just skip that event...

Or you can dedicate yourself to reading the books.
Let it be known I hope to attend and I still haven't finished anything beyond Fatal Revenant. I think I need to start trying for that push though.

Thanks for doing all the organising work Danlo!

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm coming to this elohimfest. I may pester some of you with logistical questions in the next couple of months, as I've never been to ABQ before. Driving on the right side of the road is always a thrill. ;)

Lorin I figure my 10 year membership to KevinsWatch makes up for my sporadic postings. ;) I do see the "sword" from my photo, but unfortunately US Customs won't allow me to bring in any lethal weapons other than my hands of course. ;)

I'm like you Cagliostro, I've read up to the end of Fatal Revenant. So much more SRD goodness still to read.

How do you guys describe this meeting to your friends and family? I can't really say "I'm going to Elohimfest 4" as that requires too much explaining afterwards. I'm left with saying meeting my "SRD geek friends" or the blander "attending a SRD fan event". Maybe I should just stick with "I'm going to Elohimfest" and launch into an explanation of the Elohim after enjoying the other person's puzzled expression for a while. :)

I hate you, all of you, that can do this...I've been hating you since the moment I realized reading this thread was as close as I was gonna get.

Too bad y'all can't just Skype folk into the fest gatherings.

Then I could hate you less.

It's easiest to just pretend it's a business trip. Honest.

If this was for GRRM, it would be so much easier to explain ...

Why can't we skype people in? If the place has wifi I can bring my laptop and see about providing some sort of skype or some way to view it, if Danlo agrees?

Skype could be cool :D It would save me $2500 in flights (and a possible divorce for spending all our money on "some nerdy outing"). Hmmm, the only other way is to concoct a business trip as wayfriend suggests - but it would actually have to be a real business trip so that it comes out of the business budget... Is anyone in a business that doesn't mind flying someone to the US to map their property? :D

It would be cool but difficult to "guarantee"...so if you want to be sure you are there you should really go :D

Oh fer godsakes. Tell 'em you're going to meet a bunch of ax murderers you met on the internet. (Which is another E-fest tradition, btw. )

Of *course* we can do Skype! (smacks forehead) Or maybe a Google hangout! That's a brilliant solution for the Watchers who can't come. Hey danlo, ask your tech guys about the logistics for that. It might be that all we'll need is a computer, a wi-fi connection, and a mic for SRD. I mean, we should still record it for posterity.

And yes, DLB, now that you mention it, I *did* pitch a tent in danlo's backyard that year. So I have no idea what hotel y'all stayed at. ;)

wayfriend - a business trip! brilliant idea. I think I may line up an IT conference for attending after Elohimfest and write my trip off as a business expense. :)

(A google hangout probably beats Skype. They can be set up so anyone can watch live through Youtube, I believe.)
