Yeah, I know the feeling. Especially since the company has stopped overtime pay for holiday work - and to add insult to injury, they were all sneaky about it, like they thought we might not notice.

Sheesh, you guys really have terrible working conditions huh? Here the Labour Act enforces certain basic conditions of employment. Like a specified over-time rate, leave, etc.

It depends. California has a lot of laws that are meant to protect workers - and they look good on paper - and probably are good if you work for a company that doesn't regard employees as expendable drones. This line of work is soul-destroying by nature. Big companies eat their children. And yet, the thought of being unemployed is terrifying beyond words.

Maybe it's too regulation bound? Either internally or legally? (I've often thought that the US systems appear to care much more about the letter of the law than the spirit thereof.)

This element of fear is a very effective tool in the hands of those in power and they utilise it to great effect on both sides of the Atlantic. Watching the film 'Fight Club' can be a good antidote!

That's pretty accurate, and I'm not going into further detail as I will just end up deleting the post out of fear that Big Brother is watching.
