Using words is no problem, as long as they arn't copyrighted by Donaldson (aka I don't think we can use the phrase "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever"). But with pictures, they are owned by the respective artists. And I don't want to put someone's else's art on a t-shirt. So yeah, that's why if we do make shirts, they will probably be text only. So what are your favorite quotes? I like the idea of 100% Unbeliver with Whild Gold rings for the 0's. If you all can post your favorites, then maybe I can make up the designs and then get the shirt site made.-jay
I have several hand made t-shirts (that end up being one of a kind) and used some images by another artist. They were exact replicas of them... then went to a convention of sorts and lo! bumped into the artist that created the image of the shirt that I was wearing.
She was flattered and I asked her about copyrights and she scoffed it off saying the only people that would bitch about copyrights would be the agents and the lawyers... at least as far as she was concerned.
Also the fact that I didn't make the shirt with the intent to make money from it also saves me from any legal red-tape.
Finding copyrights should be simple enough (via the net) and finding the agent of said artist is the same. As long as they get thiers they don't care, just have to get a contract and an agreement and bla bla bla.

I'd get a "Don't Touch Me" with a picture of a half hand wearing the white gold ring... (just the hand and ring) and I'd prefer one with all 7 words of power...who knows it might protect me sometime. heh
