For admins, we sure don't do a very good job of keeping threads on-topic, heh.-jay

[So is it spamming if we just keep it all in one message, then? ;) -Alynna]

[Haha. Hey! Whaddaya think you're doing, editing my posts?-jay :x  ]

[Well, there's this edit button that I hit... and then I type something... :P :D ]

Well Michael Warden hasn't replied to Sheol's post, but it seems DonnaB has:
DonnaB wrote:Similarities? It's been a long time indeed since I read the first one or two of the Thomas Covenant books, and they bored me to tears. No matter how I tried, I never came to like or admire or care about the angry, self-pitying "hero." Gideon's Dawn, on the other hand, was wonderful from the first. Even during periods when Gideon was angry, or self-pitying, or insensitive to the peoples and cultures around him, he was still sympathetic and I HAD to know more about him. So I read the book and immediately returned to the first page and read it again.
She's obviously missed the point about Covenant, but it certainly appears that the similarities between Warden's work and TCTC are more than just superficial.

I'm inclined to agree with Myste though, he isn't likely to be shifting many copies. Christian fiction is a niche market and Warden's official discussion boards have less than 50 members. The internet is a very easy place to stir up trouble and I can't help thinking that maybe it's best to let sleeping dogs lie. Or lying dogs sleep, I can't decide.

Well, I decided to answer her. Won't escalate though. No need to fight on just a question of personal taste.

It's quite possible that this guy didn't knowingly rip-off Donaldson.
He's said it's been a long time since he read the Chronicles, perhaps in the interworkings of his mind, when he decided he wanted to do a story about a real-world/fantasy-world swich-a-roo, some of the aspects from the Chrons and The Land crept into his imagination.
I mean, why would he rip-off 6 bestsellnig books intentionally?
I hope no more watchers send him offensive messages; I think the point has been made, and he answered as honestly as he could.
-Thanks
