It's from jabberwocky.

I wonder if Lucas directed a film about the poem, calling it Jabberwooky?

I think it was all worth it just to see someone use the word drollery. How often does that happen?!

Well ... having not seen this thread until today (Apr. 2nd) I had a good laugh.

I'll admit I was a bit dismayed at first, until I realize the date it was posted. :wink:

Variol Farseer wrote:Now, I'm not much on April Fool's jokes, but where I come from, it's traditional to give up if the victim isn't fooled. It's not as if you can jump out and shout 'April fool!' now, when virtually everyone who has commented on this thread knows it's a joke.

I'm afraid I, at least, haven't got any amusement out of this drollery. It gives me the sort of feeling I get when I see a standup comedian bombing out hopelessly — makes me want to cringe with vicarious embarrassment — except that I just can't work up any sympathy with the perpetrators.

Let it go, guys, please.
Dude, it is you who need to let go of this foolish notion that this was an April Fool's Joke. Look around you; what do you see? I'll tell you what you see:

1) Kevins Watch is now led by Insanity Falls and myself, under direct orders from Stephen Reed Donaldson, his webmaster, and Putnam Publishing company;

2) The sleek new brown graphics that oh so closely resemble SRD's personal site;

3) The entire Runes Forum streamlined into a single, succinct message simply encouraging curious newcomers and old fans alike to buy Runes in its hardback, paperback, braille and casette tape incarnations (with James Earl Jones as Lord Foul and Sean Connery as Lord Mhoram, no less)

4) Darth Revan and danlo, playing Bilbo and Frode Baggins to Jay's Gandalf, Vain's Elrond, and Allyssa's Galadriel, sailing off into the sunset; and

5) Little Timmy, waving at the camera, crying out "God bless us, everyone!"

Now, after reading a tear-jerker like that, do you really want to go on pretending reality is real?

Heh. I was about to leave in a noisy 'HUFF' and all, I'm glad it was just a silly prank, as I didn't want to expend my long saved up 'HUFF'

How many 'HUFFS' do we get anyway? Can I purchase more? :P

Drollery was the best thing out of the thread. Not drollery itself, but the actual word drollery. I've gotta agree.

Wait, do we know for a fact that this is a joke? I don't see Jay seeing that anywhere.

That's very funny LM! But I always thought you were a more serious type of fellow. If you're serious, then, we have a problem... :?

Good thing I didn't see this till today. I would have been long gone. This "joke" gives me a bad taste in my mouth. I never have understood the glee in sadism that Apr 1 brings out. It also makes SRD look rotten.

I'm glad this post got replied to again so I can restate that this is the funniest online april fools jokes I've seen in a decade of internet chatting. way to go. Unfortunately for the people who are upset, often a little irritation actually highlights the humor for people who enjoy it.

You prove my point about the glee of sadism.

Well, the only time I can really take glee in it is ON april 1st. Pretty much all the rest of the time the only time I take glee in nastiness to others is when someone is being a real *bleep* and someone else brings them down a notch.

Solomon said it best:
Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says “I was only joking."
