Maximilian is quite the bloodthirsty chap. He seemed to be holding back the urge the shred the crew of the Palamino from the moment we see him on screen.

...well that wasn't what I meant. (It's just The Black Hole danlo) anyway I was in the Navy at the time those two came out and was out of touch socially-so I never knew which came out first--In anycase in the mid 80s (Gods please archive that decade pronto and let no living being ever access it again) my friends and I watched Tron first and The Black Hole two years later--we were so into frisbee and the game that BH never stood a chance.

I'm still embarassed--but it's a fun embarassed

Hey I do see that (another movie I first saw at about the same time, btw

) Saturn 3 hasn't been mentioned. Yes cool robot, hot Farrah, but...PU!!!!!!!

Zardoz was so bad it was cool!

I liked the Black Hole. And as for special effects comments: guys, cool cgi effects dont make a good movie *cough eps 1-3 cough*.

My dislike of the Black Hole has nothing to do with the special effects, believe me. As for Tron, I liked it, but thought it was a bit......childish. I never saw Saturn 3, but Farrah was cool in Logan's Run.

Whoops! Sorry I'm not all that detail oriented--she played like a hairdresser right? My eyes were always on Jenny Agutter as Jessica

--I thought you meant the main female role. Logan's Run, in anycase, kicks serious butt! (there was some 1/2 assed remake effort--and the TV series was fairly cool, didn't last too long...)

I own the Logan's Run dvd and have watched it dozens of times. With the exception of the "plastic train set city" the film is great. There is no need to remake it. I saw no need to remake Planet of the Apes and yet Hollywood gave it a shot. The remake wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good either. I barely notice Farrah's Holly character until she turns up and has to vouch for Logan and Jessica. A few minutes later she's dead. Not much of a role to bother mentioning but whatever.

You have good taste. I think Agutter is one of the most beautiful women on the planet.

I never realized she was the girl in Walkabout which, like The Last Wave (old Peter Weir--Australian), remains one of my favorite movies of all time.

You have to realize what it was like watching Tron for the first time, back in the day (there wasn't much out there between SWs and Starman and The Last Starfighter-although Outland was extremely cool)--we were big video heads (as some of you know I was an Asteriods wiz) and it blew us away at the time, it wore off fairly quickly, like an out of date comp, and was almost totally forgotten after we all read Dune, Startide Rising and Nueromancer.

The Last Starfighter....now we have another candidate for the worst sci-fi flick ever! danlo is right about how few good sci-fi films were being made back bewteen '77 and '84, but in my mind the gap was between Star Wars ('77), Empire Strikes Back ('80), Wrath of Khan ('82), Bladerunner ('82), Return Of The Jedi ('83) and Terminator ('84). As you can see it started picking up in '82. Thank God I wasn't in the Army back then or I might not know the dates those films were released......

Whatever it meant, and whatever ending they shot, I doubt Burton could have had a stunning ending as the original.

Burton = Most overrated director in human history.

I always thought that when he went into the time warp thing the main guy went forwards in time.
The ship , however, went backwards and the monkeys aboard then colonised the planet that the man would eventually land on.
