Hey, Damelon. Everything's going pretty well. Not much to see on the journey so far, though. But man... you never realize how big an ocean is until you're in the middle of it with nothing else in sight.

I was watching the stars from the rails last night. It was quite an experience. It kind of made me sad that the perfectly clear vista used to be able to be seen no matter where you are. In just a few minutes I caught a glimpse of a couple of shooting stars that probably would've been too faint to see in the skies I used to look at. The stars were actually twinkling. I mean, I've seen a star twinkle before, but never watched the whole panoply of them. I think I'll see if I can find a small telescope to bring out with me next time.

I'm happy to hear you're doing well. The stars must be quite a sight out there! 8) I have to go hundreds of miles to see them well. At my friend's cabin up in Michigan's U.P. I had a similar feeling to you. The black sky and the countless stars!

At home, it's just a sodium glow. :(

It's good that you are able to check in from time to time though on board :)

Definately -- it's great to hear from you! And that telescope is a very good idea! Like Damelon, I have to travel hundreds of miles to see a sky like that!

Somewhere out in the gulf, Mhoram.

Thanks, caamora. I actually had to check the dictionary to make sure I was using panoply correctly.

Well, Vain, I am at work and my husband just called to say that the big windstorm we are having tonight knocked down a huge tree in our neighbor's yard which came into our yard and knocked down the utility pole. So now no power, no phone (except for cell), and of course, no internet. And since the storm will continue for several hours, and probably cause damage like all over our area, it might be days before they get everything up and running again. So looks like you're pretty safe after all!
I probably won't be around much for a few days except if work is quiet...
And we do have a generator running for heat and cooking and the refrigerator, so no one worry about us!
And in the meantime our whole house will smell wonderful, like scented candles! :)

Duchess, we've been having storms too. The utility poles were split in two. Literally. :? 8O Luckily, not our's.

:S I cheering for the Duchess too. :S Sorry Vain, LM, and Syl.

Dutchess, the wind has been blowing all day here, 40 mph 8O, , with rain all day. Had to batten some things down, and pick up things around the house today.

I had crews from Ameritech and Detroit Edison in my back yard all day righting the power pole and restringing all of the wires and clearing away all of the live wires that were all over the ground like spilled spaghetti. But they finally prevailed and restored my power just before it was time to come to work. :D :D
