For basslines give me Primus anyday. Here's a short and incomplete list of some of my favorites...

Welcome to this World
Tommy the Cat
Hamburger Train (TWISTED)
Professor Nutbutter's House of Treats (I dare any bassist to try to recreate that sound...)
The Air is Getting Slippery
Wynona's Big Brown Beaver
My Name is Mud

So many more worth mentioning....

Little known fact- Fred Missouri from Facecage learned to play bass (self-taught) by listening to Primus songs and then playing them over and over. Oh and all the songs on the original Blue's Brothers soundtrack.

"Fortunate circumstances do not equate to high ideals."

"Mostly muffins sir."- My answer in response to the question posed by the officer, "Son, do you have anything on you I should know about?"

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

Anything by Chris Squire especially work on Close to the Edge

Most stuff by Bruce Foxton (The Jam) especially Town Called Malice

All of Jack Bruce's output.
