Finally saw The Departed.

My favorite movie of the year, bar none. Maybe my favorite movie of this century, but it is an early century. Kudos, Scorsese!

I've only seen a couple of episodes myself. I can see TPB is a funny show, but for whatever reason I just never got into it.

So...anyone seeing Casino Royale featuring the new, blonde Bond? Does anyone care? :P
I'm going to try to see Casino Royale tonight, and I'll give a report. I'm pumped about the trailer. I want to see The Departed soon too.

The local reviewer is completely gaga over the new Bond movie. Says it is the best one in years and years and years and that this guy is the best Bond since Connery. :)

I am looking forward to Don's review. :)

I'm hopeful, but a lot of reviewers said the same thing about Timothy Dalton.

At least they are getting back to the roots of Bond - less about silly gadgets and more about spying. The last twenty years of Bond has been atrocious (apart from Goldeneye).

The new guy is supposed to be a badass Bond. :)

A description of a scene in today's paper:
Spoiler
Bond walks into an upscale bar and orders a martini. Bartender asks him "Shaken or stirred?" Bond relies something like "Do I look like I would care?". :)

Upon reflection, I do hope he's more like Dalton. The Living Daylights was a great film, and a welcome departure from the campy Moore films.

Agreed. You have some excellent views on films, Cail.

Didn't like Dalton as Bond. Still, the new guy can't be worse than Lazenby.

I'm pleased to know that The Departed is good - I plan on watching that. Am going to see Borat over the weekend. Saw The Devil Wears Prada - was enjoyable.

Let's see - saw Cars and Barnyard as well....whatever !!

Also saw: "Into the blue"...a New Zealand topical movie. Was OK'ish. Hasn't been a good movie year. Superman was rubbish.

Hasn't been a good movie year? What about Little Miss Sunshine or Thank You for Smoking?

Both very good and very funny, although not at all mainstream.

Thank You For Smoking was good, sort of a funnier Lord of War.

Starter For Ten is pretty entertaining, and almost unpromoted. It's about University Challenge, and contains book geek humour.

I loved "Thank You For Smoking."
