It's the Twang Bar King, Mr. Adrian Belew.

Yes it's Adrian!!!
Well, here's a clue for the group, at least: tall, skinny, geeky, front man (not pictured), kooky lyrics, great rhythms and catchy songs.

One night in iowa, he and I in a borrowed car
Went driving in the summer, promises in every star
Out in the distance I could hear some people laughing
I felt my heart beat back a weekends worth of sadness

There was a farmhouse that had long since been deserted
We stopped and carved our hearts into the wooden surface
We thought just for an instant we could see the future
We thought for once we knew what really was important

Coming up close
Everything sounds like welcome home
Come home and oh, by the way
Dont you know that I could make
A dream thats barely half-awake come true
I wanted to say -
But anything I could have said
I felt somehow that you already knew

We got back in the car and listened to a dylan tape
We drove around the fields until it started getting late
And I went back to my hotel room on the highway
And he just got back in his car and drove away

Coming up close
Everything sounds like welcome home
Come home and oh, by the way
Dont you know that I could make
A dream thats barely half-awake come true
I wanted to say - but anything I could have said
I felt somehow that you already knew

Coming up close
Everything sounds like welcome home
Come home
Coming up close
Everything sounds like welcome home
Come home come on home

I've gotta add a few ladies to this thread. Good to see Tori Amos here, quite surprised she wasn't all over this thread.

Heather Nova - "winterblue", "paper cup", "london rain" and others.

Image

Nina Gordon - "2003", "hold on to me", "new year's eve".

Image

Melissa Etheridge - "similar features" "like the way I do".

Image

Dolly Parton. Dont laugh, check out "Jolene" before dismissing her.

Louise Post, who I would degrade myself for in so many ways.

Sure, she did "I Kissed A Girl", but she has a heap of other great material as well.

This is most likely no one anyone else knows.

Classmate of Hyperception's at St. Hilda's and St. Hugh's School in Manhattan, he was a roadie for her group Raw Youth back in the day. (He also was a classmate of the Beastie Boys, when they were known as The Stuyvesant Bug Out Society when he attended Stuyvesant High School)

Myoshin Thurman. (her first name means "exalted spirit" in Japanese)

Cousin to Uma Thurman.

I met her briefly at her mother's apartment in Manhattan on a trip to NYC when Beorn was almost three years old. An absolutely beautiful young woman at the time, both physically and, from what I could perceive, psychically.
