Done. I realised after posting that the site I copied the lyrics from ran all the lines together in a confusing fashion, so I had to go through and insert spaces.

In the misbegotten hope that Vanessa Williams ever reads this thread, I would like to point out that while I accept that it's possible for the snow to come down in June, as of yet there have been no recorded instances of the sun going round the moon.

People would notice this kind of thing happening.

Take Me To The Pilot

If you feel that it's real I'm on trial
And I'm here in your prison
Like a coin in your mint
I am dented and I'm spent with high treason

Through a glass eye your throne
Is the one danger zone
Take me to the pilot for control
Take me to the pilot of your soul

Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger

Take me to the pilot
Lead me through the chamber
Take me to the pilot
I am but a stranger

Well I know he's not old
And I'm told he's a virgin
For he may be she
But what I'm told is never for certain

Lyrics That Make No Sense.....

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
Okay, everybody pretty much knows this song, and thinks old dad learned a valuable lesson way too late. But, what I don't get is how he can accuse his son of being just like him? I mean, he ignored his son, but the son isn't ignoring his children; in fact, son has prioritized his children's health over assauging his deadbeat dad's well-deserved guilt. I don't think old dad learned a damn thing. Anyway, that's how I see it.

yeah...i got one of those (and by the way, i agree with you on the Chapin song!!)

this one always kind of wigged me out. oh it's a nice song and for girl singers, fun to sing as well but...i gotta question these lyrics. i mean, don't cry out loud? keep it inside? learn how to hide your feelings? and the most depressing line of all, "and if you should fall, remember you almost had it all"
and melissa manchester sings this song straight from the heart too as if the message is SOOOO upLIFTing!! 8O

good grief. it always sounded like..."go on, kill yourself, you've got nothing to live for anyway!"
Baby cried the day the circus came to town
'cause she didn't want parades just passin' by her
So she painted on a smile and took up with some clown
While she danced without a net upon the wire
I know a lot about 'er 'cause, you see
Baby is an awful lot like me

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside, learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall, remember you almost had it all

Baby saw that when they pulled that big top down
They left behind her dreams among the litter
The different kind of love she thought she'd found
There was nothin' left but sawdust and some glitter
But baby can't be broken 'cause you see
She had the finest teacher-that was me-I told 'er

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall, remember you almost had it all

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall, remember you almost made it

Don't cry out loud
Just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings
Fly high and proud
And if you should fall, remember you almost had it all

I never understood that "Wheel in the Sky" song by Journey. What the hell is that all about? And the song is a total turd. Why was it so popular? Seriously, the song sucks. I don't even understand how a hardcore Journey fan could like that song.

Pretty much anything by YES. I love this stuff but the lyrics are out there. Jon Anderson came up with amazing rationalistions of their transendental meanings and imagery, I think he though of himself as some sort of cosmic TS Elliot; love the voice but what a drip.......

Here's a sample......

Dawn of light lying between a silence and sold sources
Chased amid fusions of wonder
In moments hardly seen forgotten,
Coloured in pastures of chance dancing leaves cast spells of challenge
Amuzed but really thought, we fled from the sea, whole.

Dawn of thought transferred through moments of change ever searching revealing corridors of time provoking memories
Disjointed but with purpose
Craving penetrations offer links to the self instructors sharp and tender love as we took to the air
A picture of distance..............................

...........and so on in that vein for a whole double album. Not that any of the other works showed any great poetic leanings (IMO).

You're not taking enough drugs, then.
I’ll be the round about
the words will make you out ’n’ out
you change the day your way
call it morning driving thru the sound and in and out the valley

The music dance and sing
they make the children really ring
I spend the day your way
call it morning driving thru the sound and in and out the valley

In and around the lake
mountains come out of the sky and they stand there
one mile over we’ll be there and we’ll see you
ten true summers we’ll be there and laughing too
twenty four before my love you’ll see I’ll be there with you

I will remember you
your silhouette will charge the view
of distance atmosphere
call it morning driving thru the sound and even in the valley

Along the drifting cloud the eagle searching down on the land
catching the swirling wind the sailor sees the rim of the land
the eagles dancing wings create as weather spins out of hand
go closer hold the land feel partly no more than grains of sand
we stand to lose all time a thousand answers by in our hand
next *to* your deeper fears we stand
surrounded by a millions years
In a couple of tokes, that'll make perfect sense!
