Sorry, I'm dumb and don't know what an opinion is. But really: a poor game? I just don't understand how you go from starting this thread and praising it and now insulting it. Meh.

See below. ;)

Opinion.

Opinion changed. See what I wrote before. I think i outlined why I don't like it anymore. Should I have to like a game all the time?
Lord Foul wrote:Lore, not arguing you. I enjoy the game; you don't for your reasons. Either that or you're just trying to keep yourself from re-installing.
Why are you arguing now? :)

Sorry, trying to think of an honest response or an insult.

Hey, don't repeat (what you quickly deleted) what was up before  (or was that honest?)

Dude, I don't mind you that you like Oblivion. I do mind that you get defensive when I say I dont like it, or when you try to make me look a hypocrite for changing my view, or challenging my view that it's a 'poor game'.

I've been down this path with you before when I said I didn't like Buffy.

It's just a game, Foul. DOn't worry what I think.

It's never your fault, is it Lore? I stated why I liked the game and you responded with a "yeah but," which was obviously looking to evoke a response from me. Both of us are poking and prodding, if anything.

I wasn't trying to provoke a response, man. I was just stating why I don't like it. Just disagreeing with you, okay?

Okay, we are both taking this too personally, but I accept that you like it. It has some wonderful elements, it really does, but at the end of the day, for me, its flaws ruined it.

Enjoy!

Heh, at this point I don't care about any concessions that Oblivion is good. The argument turned from that corner a long time ago, methinks. But yes, got too personal. Will try not to get into these arguments again, though I think our DNA has some kind of affinity for it sometimes, heh. Summer has been too peaceful perhaps; maybe it's good mental exercise; think I burned a few calories, anyway.

All right, peace.

A friend just bought Oblivion. Since I've been playing the hell out of Morrowind lately, we should have some interesting discussions in the near future. I see fights coming on.

I guess most of the people who didn't like the game made the cookie cutter mage-tanks. Playing a thief in Oblivion is nearly as much fun as playing a Thief game. My only problem is that the late game can be pretty tedious with an assassin type character (which is usually what I like to play in most games)

A friend gave me his copy of Oblivion because he doesn't want it. Unfortunately, my laptop doesn't want to know. 'Oblivion has stopped working', apparently. Every single time. :-x This is why I hate games on computers. :-x

Eventually got it working after several hours of downloading patches, adjusting settings and updating drivers. It was ok during the tutorial dungeon, but once I got outside it became choppy as hell. My system is beyond the minimum specs, and I've turned all the graphical flourishes as far down as they go, but I'm still getting animation of about 2 fps. My friend tells me (now) that this is why he gave it to me; his computer just couldn't run it smoothly - and he has a degree in (and works in) IT, so his PC isn't some crappy heap.

I had the same problem on my PC. I got it for the 360 so I could play it smoothly. I still love that game.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that I'll have to finally shell out for a 360. Smooth Oblivion and Fable 2, plus if there's a KOTOR III, 360 is where it'll be.

Theyre cutting the prices again at the moment, you can pick up the Arcade unit for £129, but remember to factor in the cost of a hard drive as you'll need that in order to play either of the Oblivion expansions, or to play any old Xbox games.

My old Xbox will do for old Xbox games, heh. I never really worked out the hard drive thing with the 360 (since I didn't intend to buy one), so all I know about it is that a colleague used to bitch about his not having one. Thanks for the tip on the expansions.

Oblivion reminds me of a walk in Regents Park London; it's just too small a map. A real shame, considering that World of Warcraft's world is massive.

From the little Oblivion I've managed to play, it's a bit too shiny for my taste. I found Morrowind quite depressing, being mostly swamp and volcanic waste, but it has atmosphere. Empire-wise, I'd take Caldera or Pelagiad over any town I've seen so far in Oblivion. Plus it seems more game-like, which is a good thing for accessibility, but a disconcerting change of pace coming straight from Morrowind. I approve of the changed persuasion and lockpicking systems though.
