thanks. hey it took 15 years of inmates for me to get burned out. not a bad run, eh?

I got at least fifteen to go. :?
LOL, know how you feel, 22 years and counting for me - still got at least 12 to go, or 20 if the Government don't back down on changing our retiral age to 68

Good luck with the job applications.

In this case it was just a big carrier, of the sort you might use to take a dog on an airplane. The vet loaned it to me.

It feels overrated sometimes, doesn't it?

Can't offer any advice there. One place I worked had a similar plan, plus they gave us shares that could be cashed in after several years for the difference between the price when they were issued and the current price. There were a couple of years when it was basically free money, but then I had probably close to 500 shares at the end that were utterly worthless, so I'm glad I didn't sink any of my own income into it. Depends a lot on the direction the company is going. If they're closing offices and 'downsizing,' I'd be hesitant, but you're in a better place to judge.

Yeah, second that...if prices are expected to rise on the back of downsizing, it might be a short term gain...

As for me, got home yesterday and the cat had managed to slide his cast past the joint that is supposed to be immobilised. So it was back to the vet. Again.

On the plus side, signs point to a positive prognosis. Just gotta keep him in two more days. Then back to the vet. Again.

Ugh. Cats love to destroy stuff you put on them. I posted pics a few years ago here of a (since-deceased) cat we had, Sam, who needed pins in his femur. He bit the end and pulled it out; the vet had to ram it back in, and a few days later he pulled it out again completely. By then, he was okay. (No cones of shame to be had here, apparently. And the pin itself was a pediatric pin a doctor friend of mine gave us because veterinary pins are not available.)

I already ranted about my feelings in another thread, so I'm done. :)

back was so bad I had to leave work hour and a half early. and then I am taking two days off. I will get the shots next week. day surgery.

being ill sucks, I can not fully enjoy being off.

captain said she is considering moving me to 2nd shift. (9am-7pm) as I did not get hired by the other unit, but two of my coworkers did.

and in case I did not mention - we have a new captain. someone I worked with at my old unit for a few years. we have a good relationship, so if I can get on 2nd, it all works out.

Thank you, Io!
I was in a pretty weird place that day...
And when I'm in a weird or painful place, I think the people who I should run to first for help are the ones who are already know with my craziness.

Plus giving a ridiculously-vague prayer request can be discourteous sometimes...

Well, we all know you're crazy... ;)

Of course, so are the rest of us. :D
But I don't want to go among mad people, Alice remarked. Oh, you can't help that, said the Cat: we're all mad here.

Hope everyone fares well. For some reason in Middle-Earth at the moment. Attempting to find dear Fuzzpaws the tackiest snow globe in existence, hopefully featuring both a kiwi and a hobbit. ;)

Ought to wear my hair open more, wear green, and speak only Quenya.

I'm not gonna say that you've discovered -THE- ticket to me feeling loved and accepted among friends, but...

...I will admit to having posted that SAME saying to a friend's Facebook!

Please, please tell me I'm not the only person in the world who fantasizes about making & wearing costumes of obscure characters from fantasy fiction... and then realizes that nobody around her will "get it," and then leaves those dreams unfulfilled.

Yay for Kiwiland being a beautiful natural wonderland?

As is typical at this time of year, I had what struck me as the perfect idea for a Halloween costume. As is also typical, I have no plans for Halloween and it's unlikely that I will leave the house that night.

In a deviation from the norm, I have actually acquired two of the key components of said costume. Now I feel somewhat committed.

But on the 'no one will get it' side, I would absolutely end up spending the night explaining that I am an obscure character from a book that no one has read, or taking the easy way and saying it's a generic steampunk costume, which would defeat the level of effort I put into it.

Long story short, I probably won't end up completing the costume, but I did find a totally awesome cynosure on Etsy, even if the person selling it didn't know that's what it was.
