sendin the job mojo your way.
thanks watchers, for all the good wishes and thoughts and hugs and bananas.
and mm,
I'm very happy for you, luci! More than you might think.
I care about you, even though words on a computer screen - and my own aloofness - don't do a good job of showing it.
Hope this will be the springboard to a great year ahead for you!
you do pretty good, buddy. thanks.
[weepy emo]
hugs and shit.

Congrats on getting back to Berek Halffoot's shoes! Hopefully the time off gave you the rest you needed. Also, next time you feel that way, start looking for a job then, as it is much easier to find a job when you are employed than when you are not.

duh.

that's what i meant when i said i could have done things
differently and didn't.
welp i won't be at the office, which is a stressful enviroment.
i will be at the warehouse which is much more laid back.
there is a lot to do there and not that many people to do it.
(the best packer in shipping we have is a 71 year old chinese
woman named miss fanny. she's awesome but...i don't think
she'll work much longer.)
so yeah, i think i'm going to the warehouse to troubleshoot.
i'll prolly have to learn all the shipping and recieving stuff as
well as do packing and picking and the returns and prolly the
return to vendor stuff as well.
oh god. work.

I did receiving at a Barnes & Noble for a while. I loved it. Christmas sucked, but the rest of the time it was fairly enjoyable. It wasn't a warehouse though, but I was generally busy.

you have not really recieved until you've recieved a catalog's worth of
shoes in sizes ranging from 4 to 12 (that includes half sizes) in 2 to 3 different colors each in 4 to 5 different widths each.
and the stupid vendors don't send the boxes in size order either.

Please. The mountain of boxes of books for the holidays? Huge....and considerably heavier than shoes.

Congrats on the job goods, Luci and Ali and sorry Rigel for the job bad news. I understand your situation. I have spent the last twenty three years of my life working in the automotive industry and then the industry tanked so combined with the horrible economy I got laid off, me and hundreds of other people who do my job. I took another shop job at a place which sucked my soul and life out of me until my boss gave me the perfect reason to quit. Then I spent months unemployed and then I took a job in an industry I had no clue about for crappy wages and working for a management team that has less management experience combined than I have alone. I have more than made the best of it and recently got promoted up two levels. My best advice Rigel, is to look at other options. Jobs outside of the banking industry as well as within. Also look at what jobs might have a better potential of upward mobility and future prospects before you dismiss any job at hand. I actually had a job offer in my industry two weeks ago and it would have meant a few dollars more right away but I turned it down because I have way more chance for upward mobility further than what I have already gotten and therefore better prospects at my Office Depot job. The other job was service writing but it was pretty much dead ended at wages for quite some time and if I make it through the next few months of training at this position I'll be in line for a significant jump again. So just hang in there and keep trying, also, I don't blame you for not wanting to work for Bank of America. My best friend Julie had a hellaciously bad experience with them to the point that even I got on the phone and wasted hours of my time getting hung up on and being shuffled to unhelpful people over something really stupid in their policy so we ended up both yanking our accounts and getting about ten other friends to yank their accounts and switch to wells fargo which rocks.

What Jenn said.
Oh yeah, and good luck with the job search, Rigel. And Luci, if you keep talkin', you're liable to talk yourself out of going back on Monday -- and then I might have to fly out there and speak to you in person.
In other job-related news, Shara_Lunison has a temp job -- her first gig since she and Batty moved to Denver in August. Now if Batty could just find a job in a library, we'd be a fully-employed family again....

I know bad banks-I worked as a back-end collector for Citibank for two years...

Yeah, we have to change from BoA to Bank of the West by the 19th (they even give you $100 up front if you have a monthly direct deposit of of $330) very lenient on overdrafts too...Citi and BoA two of the three heads of Cerebus.

Oh, don't get me started. I have managed not to post an anti-Chase rant for a while, but my feelings against them have not eased in the slightest.

Content. Back home on the Mountain for the long weekend. Hugging my family and feeling my Mom's presence everywhere.
There truly is no place like home.

Yeah, the fact that they took over Washington Mutual has given us all kinds of new customers, as people flee the leviathan

Welcome home, Brooke.
danlo, I'll have to tell Batty about the Bank of the West policy on overdrafts. She had Wachovia in Roanoke (how many heads does Cerberus have, anyhow?

) which got switched to Wells Fargo. Not sure how that's working out for her.

Tough day here. Found out my ex-girlfriend is dating again, and my ex-wife told me to stop sending her links to prison dating sites. I just don't understand women.

BofA is Satan. Here's what happened. Julie had an automatic savings transfer from her checking. She wasn't paying super close watch on her checking as she should have BUT it was supposed to be her overdraft protection and seeing as how she had plenty of money in savings it should have been fine. She made five small purchases, each for under thirty dollars. When they reconciled at end of night, they took the 250 dollar transfer to savings out of her account, bounced all five purchases then took the overdraft fees by using her savings overdraft protection that she supposedly had. She was pissed as she should have been, each overdraft was 22 dollars. So she got on the phone and got the most horrible run around. Then I got on the phone pretending to be her and got it too. So we went down to BofA together and yanked our accounts. The account people were like, "OH what's wrong? We can fix it." and super apologetic and so forth but we were so angry we just said, "No thanks. Give us our money now." Julie never did get her 110 bucks back. I call that blatant theft.
Today was a good day. Went to ocean beach and let the Mooseman run around like a maniac. He had tons of fun. He was all over the place like a little crazy wild chihuahua. I love my dog. He's totally zonked out right now. I pet him and he didn't even hardly lift his head up. He's so tired he's not even dreaming, at least there isn't any paw twitching, snorting, rem and/or tail flicking going on.

What? Banks give people the runaround? :gasp: (feigned shock)
More seriously, I'm sorry to hear that happened to Julie.
But glad you had a fine day out with the Mooseman!
Me, I worked (my butt off) hauling furniture in the warehouse. Working Sunday, too.
And we're in the middle of a long weekend here. What a laugh.

Yikes! You should all find someone in your family that is a Navy Federal Credit Union member and have them sign you up. Not the best choice if you need a local branch (depending on where you are - I'm in the middle of nowhere, so I need to drive to Willow Grove near Philly - two hours - for mine). But I've been mailing in deposits for years and extremely rarely need an actual teller - so it works fine.
They will automatically transfer money from savings to cover overdraft checks - and don't charge anything for it. And recently all my savings has been in a money market account (twice the interest), and when I bounced a rather large check, they called me and asked if they should transfer the necessary funds from the money market to cover it - again, all at no cost and no penalty. And their interest rates (on savings as well as loans) are always among the most competitive in the market. Damn good institution (as I'm sure all the other Navy folk here will tell you). And it's open to family members - so dig around in the geneology pool until you find someone who's a member and get them to sign you up!
And as the big bonus for me ... the ATM at the local grocery store is a PA Federal Credit Union machine. So I can use that to withdraw funds with no ATM charge at either end. S.W. freaking EET!
