Oh yeah, and good luck with the job search, Rigel. And Luci, if you keep talkin', you're liable to talk yourself out of going back on Monday -- and then I might have to fly out there and speak to you in person.

In other job-related news, Shara_Lunison has a temp job -- her first gig since she and Batty moved to Denver in August. Now if Batty could just find a job in a library, we'd be a fully-employed family again....
Congrats to Luni!

Where is she working?

I've never, ever heard anyone have a good thing to say about BofA. Honestly. Never. Everyone I know who's banked with them has these horror stories.

I've used Wells Fargo since....2006/2007 something like that. The only problem I've had with them is when I got a job that offered direct deposit, they asked me if I wanted to do that, I said "sure" and somehow that was confirmation for them to change my account to one that requires direct deposit or else charges me a $12/month fee. So after I switched jobs and started seeing a $12/month charge, I went in and demanded to see the paper I signed allowing them to switch my account and they cleared the charges, apologized, and put me back to where I was. Other than that, I've had no issues at all. They've always been really helpful. I had some unauthorized charge on my card once, someone trying to steal something, and they called me right away, let me know the deal, canceled my card, refunded the money and sent me a new one in, like, 3 days. The account I have works for me. I've got my credit card through them and my student loans will be through them.

Of course, I say this now and tomorrow, there'll be $50 in fees on my account. :-P j/k

 Just like in the old days, when I would say something snarky about Bill Gates in an e-mail and my computer would crash. Coincidence? I think not.

Cag, she's doing data entry at MDC Holdings, filling in for someone who's out on maternity leave. So, 6 weeks max, I think she said. But she just had the interview with the temp agency last week, and they came up with this slot for her pretty fast. So maybe the job market is starting to loosen up. <crosses fingers> BTW, I bit the bullet last week and put in for a legal secretary job in Denver. Uploaded my resume just for grins. Had two calls and two e-mails almost immediately -- sadly, they all want to talk to me about jobs in DC, and I'm staying put at my current job unless I get an offer in Denver.

Orlion, have you ever seen moonlight? Then you can celebrate the LUNAR New Year today too or if you prefer, Bulgarian winegrower's day. :P Happy Trifon Zarezon! What do you have against the Chinese anyway? Racist! JK! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Heh, their government sucks, but the Chinese people are all right, mostly. (Pretty amazing to think that a good number of them now have a standard of living that equals or surpasses ours in the West - unless I've been horribly misled by the Party propaganda machine.)

You haven't, unless you disagree with their government, aren't a member of Amnesty International or are for woman's rights.

I'm feeling highly emotional today: took my two valentines; Lady Tam and Elora Grace to a fancy Greek restaurant, and realized that I'm the luckiest guy in the Universe. To top that off I felt the presence of 3 other very special departed valentines; my Mom (who's birthday was yesterday), my mother in law Shirley and my grandma Helen. Then I took Grace to the Shine Circus-dam she had a blast-the human cannon boom scared the pee o/o her-guys, those girls that spin on the rope really did something for me-didn't realize that at 7 (first and last time I went to the circus-Ringling Bros at Madison Square Garden)-could we watch football w/o the cheerleaders?

Here's to women everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah.... So you're a moon person? ;)

Then, happy Lunar New year!

I'm feeling guilty 'cause I forgot to ask Luci how her first day back at work was and I'm too tired to sign back into WoW. Bad Sorus.

Hope you had a good day, Luci. |G

Sorus, I'm sure her first day back was full of stress from assessing the mountain of catchup work she is gonna have to tackle. It's probably the last thing she wanted to talk about on WoW.

My day was good. I got to annoy Jacob and he started giving me a list of stuff to move around in the copy center and Ryan comes up to me all mad and said,"What are you doing? I don't want any of that moved! Stop annoying him." and I said, "Ryan, don't worry, I am going to ignore all his orders and distract him so he forgets he told me to do that stuff. I do it all the time and get away with it. Just watch me." Ryan then proceeded to tell me hates me for leaving him because he needs my skills at controlling Jacob. :P I also stayed late and made Jacob take me to store 946 to go furniture shopping for the copy center supply closet so I can get in there and organize that mess. I am going in tomorrow to do it and I'll be "off the clock" but I keep track of my hours and they get snuck in over the next two weeks. It will be nice because I can be out of uniform and undisturbed in the back so I can actually make serious progress at getting the place organized. It's the least I can do for Ryan and whomever comes to the copy center after me.

Happy second day back at work, Luci! Hope it's gong swell!

Good for you, Jenn, for figuring out how to get paid for your "off the clock" hours. Sneaking it into the timesheets over the next few weeks would never have occurred to me. Duh, ali.

Soooo...I got a call from a recruiter in Denver a few minutes ago. She guarantees that she can find me a job there (she claims she says that to only one person a year, and I'm it for 2010!) and wants to know how soon can I come out to interview. 8O I am...nervous. I am not supposed to be looking for a job while I'm not sabbatical (signed a statement to that effect, in fact). And my boss just gave me cash to extend my vacation in Hawaii next month; returning from sabbatical only to turn in my resignation feels like biting the hand that feeds me, y'know? He's a great guy and I dunno if I would find such a great boss anywhere else. But at the same time, I've been saying all along that I want to get the hell out of DC (y'all have witnessed my whining...) and my lease is up April 30 and I could get an apartment in freakin' LoDo for what I'm paying out here in the DC hinterlands.

I don't have to call her back 'til after I get back from Hawaii. So I've got some time to think about it.

Bleah. It's just...sudden. After all this waiting. Advice, please, kthx.

Good luck Ali! Change is always sudden in my experience. I say go for it, your boss will totally understand if he's and nice as you say.

Go ahead and investigate it, ali... it's not like you have to burn down your office just to attend an interview. Then, if it turns out that the job is guaranteed and is something you want, you have yourself a choice. If not, well, life in DC goes on... even if it's underneath a thousand feet of snow

Orlion, it's like the Universe has been taunting me this winter: "Remember this white stuff? It's called snow, and Colorado gets lots and lots of it! Are you *sure* you still want to live there?"

Gawd, you're lucky. Jacob told me for a while that he'd make up all the unpaid overtime I've been doing, but fortunately I'd already stopped believing his promises. I think at this point they take it for granted (if they notice it at all), but I suppose I have only myself to blame.
