You guys are racking me up!!
Right now my skin is crawling just a bit. A male coworker keeps fb messaging me friendly little notes and I hardly know him so I only replied to be polite and now he says he wants to "visit" with me "sometime".
I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but let's just say the fb conversation is over, and if he asks me why I'll tell him I didn't feel it was appropriate and I'll be glad to visit with his wife (also a coworker).
Thanks for the laugh!! I needed it.

I decided to write an article about a female villain for a webzine aimed at teens & young women...
That's awesome - congratulations!

What book? (If it's not a secret.)

"Till We Have Faces."

I think it's a SUUUPER paradigm-shattering book...
As I was writing my article, I was like, "this is gonna be -really- awesome."
After I wrote it, (or was that just the first draft?) on my first re-read, I was like, 'huh, I'm not too pleased.'
The next time I re-read it I was happier.

I haven't read much C.S. Lewis (besides Narnia when I was very young) - though mythology and retold mythology have always interested me. May have to put that on my list.

I liked his "Cosmic Trilogy" when I was a kid.
In other news, Monday.

Flabbergasted, that's how I feel. Perhaps even discombobulated. Not one person has posted in Gen Disc in the last 24 hours? What the hell happened. Did the US get nuked or something and nobody knows?

I seem to be almost back to normal now, although I have the endoscopy and scan on the 11th & 12th November so I'll see what that brings.
I read the Screwtape Letters when I was at school (oh, such a long time ago now) and I think I remember enjoying it. Love the Narnia books, re-read them lots of times.
Still waiting for my new SRD book. Should be delivered any time now.
Lorin, hope you are feeling better.
Linna, congratulations.
Av. it's Tuesday!

Yes Io - I meant to say so yesterday but the thought of a new book by the man threw me! Hope the recovery continues apace.

So I went to bed early (9pm) because I wanted to get up early and be productive. (as productive as you can be with one arm

) Fell right asleep, had some weird dreams about rebuilding a pool, woke up fitfully, feeling not bad at all. Put on my robe and slippers, went upstairs, made coffee, sat down to do some writing, looked at the clock and it was 11pm!!!!

My new Donalson book arrived at last, two days late. In very good condition for a nearly new. Spelling is all wrong of course. Opened at random and found "rumor" instead of "rumour". Still, it's better than waiting until next June for a properly spelled one.
Busy week next week, endoscopy Wednesday, CT scan Thursday, then family history meetings Friday and Saturday.
The new walk in shower is in the making - no more climbing into the bath and having to be supervised!
Lorin, my grandad had an old 78 entitled "Get up nice and early in the morning". It had a line in it where once he walked up the stairs to bed and met himself coming down again. I thought of this when I read your mail.

Pretty sure if you read like two pages, you'd be even worse in danger of getting sucked in than I was.
I think "sublime" is the right adjective.
Av- I've just read the first of those three.
Mesmerizing. Loooooved it.
Putting off the others... umm, a bunch.

Ahh, "The Screwtape Letters"... I constantly raid my mind for one or two things from that book.
Once, in an address, Lewis said, "The association between [the Devil] me in the public mind is already gone quite as deep as I wish..."
We can only hope it was mainly because of Screwtape!

Hey! I resemble that remark!
Okay, now my blathering about C.S. Lewis and the linguistic traditions upheld on that side the pond is out of the way...

...on to blathering about how I feel!
I am having a crazy day today!
I'm thinking about pedagogy, and umm, feel like I should implement even
more "letting students struggle and flap around a bit trying to figure out a problem before I explain how to do it."
Only problem is... how to make it so that the time of working-on-math is kinda dreaded?
In other creative exploits, I've got another new project I'm working on.
I'm excited and hopeful about it, but also... like, agghh - I have other responsibilities too, I tell myself!

Immediately after telling Peter how rarely I'm off sick, I was taken ill and booked off for a couple of days.
Inflammation of the lining of the lungs apparently. However, sufficiently medicated, I am back at work, and it will apparently go away in a few days.

Yuck.
Yeah, I jinxed myself recently too. Didn't get sick, but had to take a day off when my upstairs neighbor's water heater broke and it all came through my ceiling. Fun.
Hope you feel better soon.
