I feel really... umm... stunned, upset, down, etc. I got a call on Saturday from the temp agency that the achitectural company I was working for decided to close my contract. Now I have no job. I figure door close, open window. I am going up to UTA today to see about applying for grants and loans to finish my BA in English and/or Communications and get my teaching degree.

That stinks. I'm actually in the same boat, but they are giving me until October to stay on and try to find something else. I have an interview tomorrow, so the state of how I feel today is very nervous. And I've got a nervous belly.

Aha!! Probably Pahrump!?
Neither of those places, but it's 90 degrees outside now and the a/c is still dead. I'll either take my work home with me at lunch or take a half day off; either way I'm leaving at noon.
But Pahrump is a little left of where Guns thought you were, no? :P

I feel good today. I just went over and got a gorgeous boquet of sunflowers and I am going to go over and feed julie's birds and put the flowers on the dining room table and the quiche in the fridge and make sure all the dishes are done and floors are swept etc so that it's really nice at their place when they get home.

Lore, it's not even 8:00 am there, what are you doing on the Watch already? You should be taking advantage of being footloose for the week and sleep in.

Oh...and good morning!

I came home tonight to find that the storm that went through at about 3pm knocked out the power to the house. I had a couple of things to do online so I've retreated to Panera to have a sandwich, and pick on my college bound niece who works here, while I surf.

Wow. . . sorry to hear about that, SoulQuest! And sending good vibes out for Cagliostro's interview tomorrow. Go get 'em tiger!

As for me, I am considering carefully what I want to do. And I keep thinking about quitting my job, getting a part-time job and going back to school. Something in the medical field that only takes a few years (already have a BA and have 2/3 of a MS), and doesn't involve me cleaning up other people's bodily fluids. So far I'm toying with the idea of radiology tech. The program is 24 months (offered by two major hospitals in town--one less than 2 miles from my house), and the hospitals offer some sort of tuition remission if you agree to work at that hospital for a specific length of time. I also hear that radiology techs macke decent money. I'm tired of almost qualifying for welfare myself.

Something to think on. . .

between. we have been asked to submit another piece for the Art Car Museum this fall. so we have designed a four (maybe five) piece set. with painting, sculpture, comic and soundtrack. (and maybe postcards, hazy on that) the look is boss in concept and we are lacking funds as always for the main portion. but have scrapped for some of the parts. after that the County Fair will need submission. have one older piece that has been hanging in the kitchen, a collage. may have a sculpture piece, depending on the Museum project.

have thought of re-submitting one of the pieces for the anthology. have no clue if it is worth trying again. i do love the piece in question.

work is swamped, working with just one c/o most days. heat is oppressive.

julie's mom is seriously ill. our grandson has been held back due to the divorce of our son and dil. my mom has been distant due to... complications in her social scene. health is up and down. Julie is troubled as well by ill health.

i know, i know, a sad rant that is spiraled down. and i have been here again. mostly music and comics. (go 3-D Man!)

on a positive side have discovered wonderful music inHouston for low cash outflow. the Mucky Duck caters to our alt country leanings. have seen James Hand, Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis and Slaid CLeaves as of late.

have missed the zoo for a bit due to work and health stuff. miss my fishes.

that is all for now.

Tomorrow we will spend 12 hours driving to north Georgia (with breaks) to bring Beorn to camp, so today will be spent labling items and packing. Oh joy...

Speaking of which, anyone have any inexpensive suggestions for meals and an overnight stay on this road trip? We're basically doing I-75/I-285/I-85/I-985 North (and then back again) almost to the North Carolina border. We were thinking of taking the tent and camping in the National Forest, but Hyperception and I figure it will be too dark, and we'll be too tired, to pitch camp once we're finished checking Beorn in.
