Idea:
If we get barter for one with stuff not immediately being used, pick up a Handy Haversack or two.
Holds tons of stuff, what you want it ALWAYS on top, and it will make carrying Teh Phat Lewtz alot easier.
Another option: A Portable Hole, but by just the books the hole is 10x the cost of the haversack, plus ratting through it.
And we all know the ONLY game in town to buy stuff is at Ronnie Rip-offs, a division of Fly By Night Industries.

I will admit that Laurel has not purchased anything before as I had no idea when we had the time to do so. I also have not kept track of my coin, so as I have not bought anything, I don't know how much I have available to start shopping with the addition of what we just received.
I also admit I have not looked at anything that is available. If anyone knows of things which may be useful to a healing bard, please let me know. I seem to recall there is a vest which buffs
Inspire Courage, but if anyone knows of a list I can look at for such items, I would be grateful.
Anyway...

My first instinct is to use two wishes to bring back Marrik. But we do have the scroll of
True Resurrection or, as Vynarkus has suggested, we could ask one of the elven clerics to bring him back. Let me know what the party thinks as far as the second and third option, before I use two wishes to bring him back.
Speaking of the
Moon card, d20 says I need to make the wishes within three minutes. But seven appears to be offline at the moment. Does anyone know how we are interpreting that rule for forum play?

At first I was concerned this would be a party member, but I see it says an NPC or even a group or society. This may make for some intriguing story down the road, so while I have an enemy or enemies somewhere, I'm not going to view this as a necessarily baneful draw. It may even be fun in the long run; perhaps giving Led the opportunity to come to my rescue at some point.

I was nervous enough choosing to draw at all! I'll take the XP please.

Sigrid said something about a magical item compendium...i looked for a pdf online and found a few sites, but they looked shady, so I didn't download. I bet Vyn has a copy of it for you to peruse.
Basically, I just begged Seven for recommendations. Because I'm lame.

Getting some of the item distribution out of the way. If there are objections speak up soon. There's a lot on the sheet, so please double-check there are no qualms with the "undisputed" items if nothing else.

I'll withdraw from the cloak, ring +3 is really all that is high on my list. Kali gets more from the bracers for now, I could use a little more armor.

I think sigrid should get the major spell storing ring, because she has offensive and defensive spells, as well as some buffs, and could possibly loan it out on an as-needed basis? Maybe? As far as the other named weapon, if Kali wants it, it's hers...I'll only take it if NO ONE else wants it. The circlet of blasting could be useful to Laurel because you have to make a ranged touch attack to use it.

Again, I am caught off guard because I haven't bothered to look something up. I assumed the circlet of blasting was meant for Vynarkus, since his invocations take the shape of blasts. This is not the case?
And as shown by Laurel's attempt at using
Chill Touch on the dark elf via the spectral hand, the bard may not be particularly good at ranged touch attacks. Although she'll keep trying when she can.

The ring doesn't help me alot. I have alot of spells already. I could cast spells into it, for others to use. Anna, you could use it to store extra touch spells, so you can hit people. Triggering a spell from the ring won't cause an attack of opportunity. Maybe it's a swift action, too? So you can cast and hit in the same turn.
We can keep the named weapons for trade. They take less room than piles of gold, too.

I could have misread, but when I looked in the srd, I could have sworn that's what it said. As always, I'll bow to those with more experience, but it seemed like an interesting spell, basically a blast of light that gives those of the evil persuasion some serious ouchies.

Okay, so... a thought on items that some people might want to purchase. Once we get into the Darkwood, where we know we'll be going eventually, it'll be like being underground, only it's heavy tree cover blocking out the sun. But it's all huge branches at various elevations, and "tunnels" all running through it.
We're going to be dealing with a three dimensional space. Those who are stuck only on the ground will be at a serious disadvantage. I know that Vynarkus can fly, and now so can Sigrid. Kalindriel seems to be able to make wings temporarily. 'Trina just showed us wings... I assume they work. When we get to our next level, I'll be able to climb walls and move around amongst the branches, so basically 3-D movement.
The rest of you should really consider finding some way of flying. Wings of Flying, or Boots of Flying. Cape of the Bat (only works in darkness, but there's not a lot of light in the Darkwood), or a Flying Carpet. I'm sure there are other options as well. (Someone could take the Dragon Disciple prestige class and grow wings, or the Elemental Savant prestige class and turn into an air elemental.)
I'll have my horse saddle altered so that it can work on me, and so a rider can stay mounted even while I'm climbing around the walls. I think I'll let Skyseeker ride back there for now (she gets skirmish damage too). I don't think it's a secret that Seven hopes to retire her soon, anyway.
Annalysei wrote:Well, as you all know, I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to want. I'm intrigued by the idea of having extra links added to my flail (adamantine and whatnot) but I could probably buy those, right?
Adding mundane stuff to a magic weapon... the magic might not spread to the new links. So you'd have to drop some duckets on maybe cleaning up the enchantments on it, as well.
Also, the chain weapon that you're looking at... the links ARE the weapon. With a flail, the part that needs to be special metal is the spiked ball that actually hits the bad guy. The links of the chain aren't involved in the DR part, just the "making sure the spikey bit goes in the right place" part.
DM Edit---that's a morning star you're thinking of. flail is length of chain on end of metal handle...typically, 1' handle, 2' of chain.....Dire Flail is 2 1/2' "handle" in middle, 2' of chain on either end. Assumption for changing link was magical transmutation of the existing metal...replacing links tends to ruin the weapon...i.e., magic "escapes"
Annalysei wrote:Also, as a "What if" question...theoretically, could I get in a position where my flail would be useless, like if I was smashed between a wall and a monster? Can it get knocked out of my hands? (PLEASE, DM, don't consider these as possible ideas on how to torture me.

)
You could make a fumble. Critical fumble, you injure one of us / yourself. Simply dropping your weapon is what happens when Seven is being nice on a fumble.
Any number of spells could immobilize you. Grapple checks could be used. Some weapons (nets, spiked chains, etc.) might also be used. Typically, even if you got smashed between a monster and a wall, the rules don't call for you being pinned or dropping weapons. So unless there's some maneuver or something designed to incapacitate you, you shouldn't have to worry about it, unless you fumble.
Some of Kalindriel's previous characters had special wrist lanyards attached to her swords, so she at least wouldn't LOSE them when she fumbled. She fumbled a lot. Very poor luck with dice, our Kali.

You haven't come close to topping the gnome shooting the cleric in the arse. Twice. In the same round.
He had to do without healing for a bit.

Eventually you'll have a tough time falling on me. Until then I'll use it as an opportunity to make Sigrid jealous.

Back to the loots, sooner we finish that up sooner we move on to make more loot happen...
What's the word on the "contested" loot, that +3 ring will bring me up to a 27 AC, and that's the only thing I'm after to wear.
The other loot, take for bartering for more shine shine shiney? Some we should keep as "barter fodder" since moneys can buy everything we want.
Also depending on spaces in spell storing rings, I have a spell or two (literally 2) that would be useful to a melee to pop on themselves.

Trina is getting the Ring +3 and the Cloak of Elvenkind +10. Led is getting the 'Heshic' Cloak of Elvenkind +5 for RP reasons. The sheet should be current.
Only dispute left is the Cloak of Charisma, and we have to decide where a few useful items go.
Kali bartered the Unholy Sling and Unholy Spiked Chain away. Got nice shinies. Weapons will be somewhere they cannot plague us.

I'm giving up my claim on the Cloak of Charisma. However...
Seven, if we did not spend any money throughout the campaign, and if we sell everything we got from the dragon's lair, how much money would we each have?

Does anybody even remember all the non-magical stuff we got from the dragon's cave?
I remember there was a brazier with the Unknowable's symbol on it. And a giant painting of an old elvish city. Led has a cloak clasp worth some cash. Think there was an obsidian statue of some dead elf. Maybe a hair brush?
Does this start to sound like Seven chose this stuff because he was watching a game show? "Let's see what they've won! You get a home hair care package from L'Oreal, a big-screen TV, and an Acme home space-heater!"
Also, Led and Sigrid need to sell their horses and whatnot. (Led doesn't need a bedroll, for example.) I'm sure most of it isn't worth recording the sale value, but the horses might be worth a little bit. Anybody else who acquires flight might want to consider the same. Horses will become a liability after a certain point. Better to dispose of them here, where they'll get good homes. Instead of just smacking them on the rump out in the Darkwood, and hoping they survive.

Horses could be travel rations for whomever is willing to eat them.
