Rune, I'm just glad you're posting in The Galley. No worries.
Can't say I'm eating at the moment, but I did just finish a kaluah ad 1/2 & 1/2. I've been craving one since a fairy weak white Russian I had Friday night. But that was probably my own fault, since I chose two exotic-to-me liquors for it to be mixed of.

I know people who eat them with apricot jam.
I just can't get mine to come out the way my mother's did.

My understanding is this is a legacy custom from times when roast was much more relatively expensive, and the Yorkies-in-gravy course allowed appetites to be blunted before the meat came to table.

Hey you! Did you offer one to Dam-sel or me?

I'm not very creative or adventurous with food. I don't eat red meat and white only two or three times a year. I live mainly on a steady diet of fresh vegetables.
I do remember seeing your beef in pomegranate sauce pic that looked so good I almost went out and got me some meat, but didn't. Though I did get some pomegranates, realizing I'd forgotten just how good they taste.

I'm not very adventurous with food either. I pretty much just eat meat.

There are tastes that I know I like, so I mainly stick to them.

Rune, I love good vegetarian dishes. At the top if the forum, the Index of Recipes will take you to the old board of the Watch's sister site: Ahira Hanger. Create a free account, and you should find several vegetarian recipes which have been posted here over the years.
And please post any of your favorite concoctions as well!

Me too, but I just can't get my mom's (remembered) recipe right. They don't rise enough and aren't light enough.
Got a good recipe Sky?

Im working away from home this week - but when I get home - Ill write up my mum's recipe ..
You know its funny whenever Trev attempts a yorkshire - they're always like flap jacks but rubbery!! hahahahahahah
But then he was never a fan of my mother .. well few were tbh LOL but she did know how to make a cracker pud!!

The key to a good Yorkshire pud is that the batter must be light - thinner than for pancakes (made so by the addition of extra water), ideally it should be left in the bowl open to the air for an hour or two and then re-stirred and then cooked in individual ramekins or bun trays with a little oil/lard melted in each. Never cook them en masse in a single round tray - they will always rise at the sides with a stodgy flat centre. Always!

Here's
a useful article on Yorkshire pudding.
I will probably make these to go with the standing rib roast I understand Menolly to be planning.

Awwww!!! That is so sweet!!!! My hubby and I tag team when we cook up a production - for family or friends.
Pete youre absolutely right about the yorkies, they should stand
But its funny cos Trev does let them stand but .. *shrugs* never wins with the savoury puddies

I always plan a standing rib roast for Chr-stmas, but there are others in the house who might prefer ham?
(although, pork is traditional for NYE in the south...)

I must admit, it would have to be outstanding to beat the homemade yogurt I make in the Instant Pot nowadays, Sky.
