Holy crap. I understand he was sounding pretty bad for the last few perrormances prior to his death (he has what my brother now has...though he is remission).
Whitley was always a favorite of mine since i saw him open for Tom Petty in 1991. His ability as a guitar player and lyrical seer were unequaled. I was pretty stunned by news of his passing.

and yes he was. i'm pretty sure he ascended rather than died if you know what i mean.
he roughed it throught the Cafe Du Nord show. there were some good moments and i got a stunning photo which i believe i posted in the Photography with images thread here.
