Update on Menolly:

She is feeling better today, with temperatures between 99.1 & 100.8, but I'm told there were some very scary spikes overnight -- as high as 104.9.

I've told her that this bug is nothing to take lightly, reminded her that it can spike again, and relayed all of your good wishes.
  • Ali, be aware that Hyperception is bringing her juice to help keep her hydrated...and giving the neighbors what-for because they were burning leaves and smoking up the neighborhood.

Cag, I agree that IV fluids would be the recommended course, but that isn't going to happen. Wish it would, but it's outside my sphere of influence.
Keep the healing energy coming!

If she continues to feel better later this afternoon/evening, maybe she'll make an appearance here on KW...

Jenn, please get yourself seen ASAP.
Photos are well and good, but having a physician document those bruises, as well as anything else that may not be visible to the naked eye, is even better.

Thanks for the good wishes all. Please keep them coming, as I don't seem to be out of this yet.
I'm reading the Watch, but don't really have the energy to post much right now...

Good to see you on the Watch, Menolly! But next time your temp spikes, get yer ass to the ER. Seriously. It's one thing for a teenager to run a 104-degree temp, and another thing entirely for somebody our age.

Blew a bunch of cash on routine maintenance stuff today -- vet visit for Morgan, oil change and alignment for Fitzy. :( Ah well, better now than later when I'm broke, I guess....

Next on the to-do list is to fire up Magickmaker's old printer and print my vacation pictures, so I can do the scrapbook. Then all that's left is looking for a new apartment, and packing/moving. Hopefully I can squeeze in a second draft of last fall's NaNo novel, too, but we'll see.

Thank you, Ali. She has been given that advice repeatedly, but perhaps getting it from a different source will make a difference.

I'm not holding my breath that what I say will make a damn bit of difference, SD. But I'd be happy to drop an F-bomb her way if you think it might help.

Oh, I should mention that Magickmaker is having an interesting week. She's on spring break in Jamaica, working with her university's service project there. There's been a little bit of fun -- they went into the rainforest over the weekend and on Friday they get to do tourist stuff -- but mostly I gather it's been tutoring and helping in the clinic and so on.

I am glad you are starting to feel better Menolly. You will need all your energy to cook that big Passover meal I just know you are planning.

Cameraman Jenn wrote:I couldn't even take decent pics of my arm and leg since I can't get the camera angle right. And the lower hip bruise you can't see is the most painful. Sorus saw the bruises in person. I actually called rolando before I went in to work and told him, go in the office and watch the security feed before I get there so you can get it out of your system and gave him a rundown on what happened. He called me back almost immediately and was like, OH MY GOD, HOLY CRAP! Then I got to work, dragged him into the office and showed him the damage and he was like, OH MY GOD, WHAT THE F--K are you DOING here???? Then proceeded to take pictures of my wounds with his cell camera and make multiple dvd's of the incident. He also laughed himself silly. I must admit, seriously, the freeze frame of me mid air is highly amusing looking. Also the way Jacob reacted and I reacted is pretty funny too. I had fun with two coworkers today over it. Well all my coworkers, but two that were not there last night, I convinced one that I got hit by a car and the other that I had tackled a shoplifter and got my ass kicked. Tomorrow, if Jason K hasn't already been shown the feed I am going to try to convince him I was the victim of mistaken identity and police brutality. Also, if Bill the UPS driver is working tomorrow I'm gonna convince him that Jacob asked me to listen to an engine noise then proceeded to let his foot slip off the brake and pinned me between a cement wall and his SUV. Should be fun. Also I do need to get some pictures of my wounds that aren't showing too much but I got home late from moving Navepar so I didn't call Lucimay. I need someone else to take pics since I can't do it so well myself.
You could've asked me. Glad you seem to be taking it well, or at least as well as one can. I've had messed up things happen to me at work before and I hate it when people laugh. :?

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing

...grumble...
I woke up this morning to a temperature of 101 and feeling extremely thirsty. So better, but still lingering.

That sounds fun. I hope she shares pictures with you which you can then share with us.

And thanks, lorin. :hearts:

Fortunately, this year Beorn and I will be going to Lubavitch both seder nights, though I need to prepare for the non-seder meals the rest of the festival. The rebbitzen put out a general call for help for today from 2-7, and I am so tempted to go. But even if I am no longer contagious, I just do not think it would be a good idea...

spiral - nice ax!

Jenn - take care of yourself!

Menolly, hope your back up to snuff soon (& Beorn)

I had a friend give me the following after discussion of the recent passing of my mom, it made me feel a bit better about her death:

My boss is retiring next week. I am going to miss her so so much. She is such an amazing woman. She is 62, is very artistic, interested in anything new and exciting. She is so full of life. She wears her hair spiked and dresses in bright bright colors. Her office is always filled with peonies, daisies and roses that she grows at home. She blasts opera and reggae.

I hope when I am her age I am able to look back and ahead and feel the excitement she feels about life. She makes my stupid government job bearable.

I want to get her a gift but am at a loss. Any suggestion?

Lorin -- for your boss, flowers. Or a quirky pin (or something) from a museum store. And I'm sorry you're going to lose her. Looks like you'll have to pick up her slack, attitude-wise... ;)

LF -- nice!

So...I didn't get the job in Colorado. So now I'm looking for a new apartment closer to DC again. The thought of going back to that crappy commute in a month is more than I can take....

Lots going on with everyone I see, yay for the good, hugs for the bad and just hugs for everyone in general. I had my ups and downs today. Balanced my checkbook. It was not pretty. Got in to work and asked my boss if he had any intentions of fixing the eight hours shorted from my paycheck over a month ago. He promised yet again to fix it. I told him I had negative three dollars to live on until next friday and I needed something done sooner. He gave me $100 bucks from his own wallet so I told him I would gladly pay him back when I get the check for that 8 hours.

On funny notes. I had a good time getting Derek at work today. I casually attached several security bar stickers to him during the course of the day. Everyone in the store knew about it. Gilbert, Mary and I were up front when Derek left and set off the alarm. He came back in and was annoyed and found the one I had attached to the back of his jacket collar but not the one down low on his jacket. He then went to leave again saying, "Ok, you got me." and promptly set off the alarm again. All of us were laughing really hard at this point and he comes right up to me and was like, "Where is it. Seriously. I'm not playing anymore." I told him iit was on his jacket. He didn't believe me and started to get mad so I reached around and pulled it off his jacket. As he turned away and stomped out I said to Gilbert and Mary in a loud voice, "That's TWO for Jenn." which set us off into more fits of laughter.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Yeah. I really like her... We both agreed it'd be good to see each other again. I dunno. I feel all warm inside. Gave her my poetry book. I almost gave her this hand-written poem I wrote just for her, but that might wait for later. Didn't feel it was right to say "I like you" just yet.

I'm pretty cool when it comes to moves like that. ;)

I'm caught between taking a walk, at two in the morning, in this quiet place, and staying in my closet, listening to In Keeping Secrets of a Silent Earth 3 over and over again.

It's been a bad day.
